45 with Ash, thank you :)
you’ve been staring at the side of ashton’s face for a while now, but you’re not entirely sure how long. the two of you found yourselves unable to sleep, decided to curl up on the sofa instead, the curtains open and moonlight making everything look vaguely silvery. he’s looking at the stars with a forgotten about mug of tea in his hand, pensive and quiet. you’ve no idea what he’s thinking about, only that he looks almost ethereal in the dim light and the fact that he’s here with you makes your fingertips tingle a little.
“tell me a secret,” you whisper after a while longer, almost afraid that speaking too loudly will shatter the peaceful bubble you’ve ended up in.
he looks at you then, all bright hazel eyes and a lazy smile. “a secret? well, see, four years ago i was working at-”
huffing, you shove at him with your foot as hard as you can without him ending up spilling his tea. he laughs, putting it down on the table and settling back with your feet in his lap, hands resting atop them and thumb rubbing circles on your ankle without really thinking about it.
“i guess, uh - oh! i know. remember how i told you that i first thought ‘hey, i wanna date her’ when cal introduced us?” you nod, watching him look away shyly as he carries on. “we actually, um, met at a party a few months before that. you came up to me when i was sat on my own, asked me my name and then said ‘listen carefully, ashton irwin. i just watched my best friend do a body shot off of her crush of three years. don’t let anybody tell you dreams don’t come true’. you even kissed your fingers and touched my forehead before you left. i thought about you a lot after that - s’why i asked you out so soon when i met you again through cal.”
you’re sort of speechless, not having been expecting something so weirdly romantic as well as having absolutely no memory of doing that. ashton’s blushing a little, still not looking at you, so you end up sitting up to tug him forwards by his shirt and kiss him gently, putting everything you can’t say into that instead.
