For her husband, that level of kitchen-related catastrophe was not at all a surprise; their son inherited the mayhem gene and so that was barely a blip on her radar either, but even baby girl was shrieking with delight and banging a spoon against the floor so great tidal waves of chocolate milk were unleashed.
Kate dropped her bag on the floor at her feet and unholstered her gun, completely ignoring the absolute nonsense happening with the rest of her family in favour of securing her firearm in the safe in Castle’s office. When she came back through to the kitchen she was half hoping the whole thing was some exhaustion-fuelled dream, but no - it was really happening.
"What is going on here?" Kate said slowly, and received a sheepish look of remorse from all three of them, those crazy people she loves best in the world.
"Mama!" Their daughter grinned, tossing her spoon aside and tottering towards Kate with outstretched arms; she waited, just a beat, and then she shrugged and sank right down into the chaos to wrap her little girl up in a hug.

Honestly, I’ve read one that ended with a wedding but I can’t remember which one it was :/ here are the only other 2 I know of (my brain doesn’t seem to be working very well right now, sorry)
