Up third in our ‘In the Mix’ series, we present an hour mix from Oxford’s House/Bass/UKG/Tech DJ/Producer Archie B!!

Discovering a love for DJing at the age of 14, Archie B began spinning with Hardstep Jungle and Drum & Bass then followed on to 2 step Garage, Speed Garage & House. DJ’ing now for 19 years Archie B is fast becoming a well-known face and name within the London and surrounding areas House Music scene.

Supporting acts such as Rudimental, Redlight and Gorgon City at Switch Oxford and DJing in between heavyweights Hannah Wants and EZ, Archie B has also guest mixed for Kiss FM and Rinse FM.

In March 2014 Archie B began producing, drawing on his influences – Wookie, Brasstooth, Groove Chronicles, Marc Kinchen (MK) and Dusky. Having had releases on labels such as – CR2 Records, OneFold Records, East Side Records, Switched On Records, Vibe Collective and with a close relationship with Data Transmission.

Archie B’s style of music production is hard to set into one genre. With a combination of UK Garage, House and Bass he is setting his own trend with his own style of music. And this is backed up with Pete Tong supporting his 'Gassed Up’ track, Monki showing support on 1Xtra and Data Transmission giving 3 of his releases a feature. Roger Sanchez has also been supporting Archie B - making his 'No Limit On Funk’ record on Cr2 his track of the week. Archie is also recieving heavy support from Kiss FM DJ Pioneer and Rinse Fm Sam Supplier.

Already this year having 4 exclusive first play track of the weeks and 2 tracks featured on Cr2 Records Best of deep house & Ibiza compilations, 2016 is set to be a exciting one. With his goal at the start of his journey, to be signed to a major label, have radio plays and secure guest appearances already achieved, Archie B is now focused on playing more big events in the UK and abroad. Archie recently played at Ministry of Sound 24th birthday and is also now a Data Transmission resident DJ.

S.E.F was the ultimate definition of underground in his early years. London Underground for that matter, that’s how he’d get to and from school, with his headphones attached to his ears tapping out beats on the dusty seats of the Central Line. Hip-Hop beats dominated the young man’s music diet, an unhealthy balance maybe, for the boy, wise beyond his years, set about putting some change away for the when the sunny day came that he could go to Uptown Records to buy what he thought would be the tools of his trade for life. Those decks were now the centre of the world.

The endless hours spent perfecting his craft as a DJ took him down many different roads and while he began to broaden his take on music and gain new influences and the world transformed around him, he came up with a unique sound of his own. S.E.F quietly moved into music production, setting up his own record label in the process, Switched On Records was born and in 2012.

Music not being his main focus has seen him dip in and out of production, but everytime picking up exactly where he left off. ’M.O.E’, 'Dance The Night Away’, 'All Day Every Day’, 'What It Is’ and his rework of Crystal Waters 90s hit Gypsy Woman 'Every Morning’. #BAB Banger after banger!

Switched On Records was born out of the desire to free the music. A working lifetime in London’s underground music industry has seen many collaborations come and go for S.E.F some prosperous and successful, others not so much, but that is when you learn the most.

The founding of this label brings together the two main platforms of the “Switched On” brand. Switched On Productions can boast some of the world’s largest broadcasters as satisfied customers. Couple this with a keen ear to the underground and a passion for good music, it’s clear to see why some of London’s most sought after talents are beating a path to S.E.F’s door to jump on his latest foray into the music business.

Forward to 2016 SOR (Switched On Records) has seen releases from Alex Deamonds, S.E.F, Lost and Found, Denham Audio, Mr And Mrs Smith, Hot Blonde, J.Kid, F Projekt, David Alexander, KG3 and Harry Ley maintaining its reputation as one of the UK’s TOP Underground labels. A future release from Archie B is in the pipeline with remixes from S.E.F himself, F Projekt and Alex Deamonds expected for release on …. It got 'Track of the Week’ on its first airplay on Lance Morgans Rinse FM show.
