FAIRY where does the name di-diwata come from!!
!!!! HI BEE!!! thank you for the question it's one of my favourite questions to answer :}
SO!!! it's made of two parts:
di - comes from the welsh word 'dim' which translates to 'no' or 'nothing' (i THINK. any welsh speakers please forgive me it's been a while since i did my welsh gcse). When i was younger I thought it'd be SO funny to be an author with a pseudonym translating to smth like 'nothing here'. So dim became di!
Diwata - You'll notice that on some sites my username is actually 'di-fairy', and it used to be on this site too! Diwata in Filipino folklore are actually spirits/deities that ruled and protected mountains, but also came to used in relations to fairies! (Shout out my very very good friend Evren Syyykes for giving me that word <3) So I ended up using that word in replacement of Fairy ^^
Okay but why the word fairy? My VERYYYYY first au i ever came up with (august 2022!) was a fairy au I made up in someones ask box. At that point i had 0 mutuals (hadn't even met fea yet!) and my user was 'simply-scrolling' cause i didnt plan on posting anything. decided to name myself after that au and the name stuck :D!
And thats how i got my username ^^
