Professor Tate is a famed cultural critic and former staff writer at the The Village Voice, a musician, producer, and writer who lives in Harlem. This spring, Professor Tate will teach AFRI 1050R: The History of Afro Futurism and Black Science Fiction. Any class called The History Of Afro Futurism and Black Science Fiction automatically begs the question – “Well, what isn’t futuristic about being Black in America? This seminar will survey and provide ample-to-glancing discussion room for the various and multifarious strands of Black science fiction and “sonic fiction” by every means and every media necessary. Wednesdays, 3:00-5:20pm.
