This is an awesome article emphasising the importance of limiting options to help users make decisions more quickly. As designers, we know about Hick's law and the whole 'magic number 7' rule. I mean, some designers take it to the extreme, which I don't recommend. But it's a good thing to keep it in mind.
The article gives some great examples, one being Twitter. It shows the previous Twitter compared to the Twitter home page now, and you can understand how and why they changed it (Read the article if you're interested in knowing more...)
Placing loads of little images or text or links for the user to sort through is a living nightmare to navigate. You need to determine what the users want and need from the site and trim it down to what content is REALLY IMPORTANT! Web design doesn't allow for unimportant stuff!!!
My advice to you, don't try and cram it all into one page... Pick out the elements you think are most important for getting your message across as quickly as possible... We don't want to be flooded with too many images/text... We'll be over your site within seconds...
