If Only You Knew
If Only You knew Beneath this mask is a painful truth Things you cannot see because I choose to A hidden part you may never know, for I see your pain and I hold if only you knew, you would no longer be able to stand if only you knew, it wouldn't be enough to hold my hand the throwing waves of emotion are too much for you to bear along with the storm you face now so I keep to myself I sacrifice myself for you Our love will get us through these rough seas and harsh storms Until we can stand firmly once again hand in hand So let the rains pour down on me, so you can see in this storm clearly let my love give you strength, so you may stand upon this unstable sea If Only You Knew What it is I have to do, to keep him afloat. You go about your daily life, never seeing whats beneath the surface, never seeing the pain and struggle we are in. You think you see, you think you know, but yet here it is, nothing has changed. Time passes by, and I sit here alone, hiding what is inside, so he doesn't crumble. I have no say, because you all take him away, never seeing the pain being caused to him as well. He is as much a human as you or I, And he needs some time to actually breath. But yet again, time goes by, and you never see the tears that I cry.
A poem I wrote for both my fiance and our mutual friends.
