These days I'm working on finding information from the Gracia/Montez Family starting by Tina's great-grandparents, her grandparents and then her mum and sisters and her cousin María.

Everything I'm finding I'm posting it here in this page called FAMILY.

Please notice that this page is under construction but little by little I will be adding biographies and timelines (when available) from the Gracia/Montez Family as I think it's a very big and interesting family with great history that deserves to be known by the general public.

The dance party tape marks.

The complicated geography of clone choreography. I don’t think anybody had ever seen such tape marks. Heroic on set work by 1st AD Joanna Moore and Katherine Hughes and their team – the culmination of a couple months of pitching the sequence and marshalling the extra time in the shooting schedule to pull it off.  Key crew gave lunches to meetings; Tat, Jordan and 3 acting doubles stole rehearsal time during the shooting of 109. Then it was time to bring on the Technodolly!  The motion control beast that comes with several operators, multiple monitors, and its own separate playback system.

My favorite part of Graeme Manson's writer notes for the Orphan Black finale (mild spoilers in the original post!) is this demonstration of the work that went into a Clone Club dance party. Tatiana Maslany had to attend this dance party as four different characters, and this is the elaborate choreography tape they used to make sure that she didn't violate any, you know, laws of physics.

TatMas is an amazing actress, but it's careful, ingenious work like this that really brings Orphan Black to life. Increasingly, I am interested in surfacing this too-often hidden work (in organizations, specifically) and in teaching literacy around how stuff gets done.

Oh and if you aren't watching Orphan Black...start.

Hidden Blade Mechanics

Alright I really want to create my own functional hidden blade.

First things first:

What does it need to do?It needs to cut through bone at the least. That should be difficult but not TOO challenging, Damascan Steel SHOULD do the trick.  It also needs to be small enough to be contained on your forearm, as well as deliver enough force through the blade itself to cut bone. It also needs to be comfortable and able to be worn inconspicuously when not in use, the blade can't be obviously there. It is hidden after all. I also need to be able to activate the blade with a flick of my wrist, even if it is just for a moment before it retracts. A moment is all that is required.

What are my restrictions?

Seeing as the games are all set in eras where mechanics beat electronics out by a long shot, it needs to be entirely mechanical.

Again, no longer than your forearm and no thicker than an inch or so.

Ideas for blade release

Air pressure? Not enough force behind it...

Button? Yeah sure, but where?

Gears do a good job of multiplying forces...that could help immensely.

What must be done

Study wrist movements, that is the key. The blade needs to be activated by a certain wrist motion, so any activator needs to be properly positioned to allow the user to perform that movement fluidly as well as activate the blade properly.

...I have my work cut out for me.
