Hiii! I'm Kelsey, I'm really happy I found your blog. I'm twenty and just like you never left the east coast I'm I'm going abroad to London to study for a summer semester so hopefully your blog will give me some advice. If you don't mind could you maybe tell me what kind of clothes to pack especially shoes because I'm trying to get prepared I'm going May-July, and all I heard is that it is very rainy. Thank you and I'm sorry if this is weird lol :)
That’s so exciting! You’re really going to have a blast. (I also can’t believe it’s been about two years since I went… I still have withdrawal). And I really hope my blog can be of some help— definitely check out the “advice” page that’s linked above the title!
I left in April, so I didn’t experience very much warm weather at all! By the end of April there had been about two days where I was comfortable wearing a sweater without a jacket, but that’s it. It stays chilly for quite a while. HOWEVER. I heard last summer was an absolute scorcher in the UK, and it may be the same this year! My top tip is to bring things that can be layered and un-layered. Sundresses that can be worn over tights if needed, defintely bring cardigans or sweaters that you can throw over a t-shirt etc. It never hurts to have a pair of jeans/pants or two! From what it looks like, it usually doesn’t get above the mid 70s, so keep that in mind.
In terms of dealing with rain: while I was there it was cold, so I wore boots that I didn’t mind getting wet (they were fake leather so I wasn’t worried about ruining them). But, for hot weather I personally don’t mind getting my feet wet if I’m wearing sandals! I think your best bet is to get a mini umbrella to keep with you in your bag at all times because it does rain pretty sporadically. I would recommend wellies, but if it’s hot out, your feet might get too hot and that could get gross… haha. Not to mention they take up a lot of room. If you’re worried about your feet getting wet, then maybe there are some cute sneakers you could find that are summer appropriate as well? Maybe keds or something?
Sorry I can’t be more help :/ I wasn’t there in the summer so I don’t know exactly!
