Nico shot his older half-sister a crooked grin. “Okay, not trouble,” he conceded after a beat, “But just... something not here.” He had some Pokemon Go to catch up on, and it was as good an excuse as any to leave Camp for awhile.

Kharon dips the cloth into the warm water in teh basin sitting near his feet. Gently wringing it out before he lifts it up to wipe some blood from her fingers. Then up along her wrist, his amber eyes kept low as he tries to focus on what he was doing. Not wanting to be out of line, but also he feels the need to say something. Yet, his lips press together in a thin line, his mind playing ping pong on staying quiet or brining up his concerns.

”You don’t need to protect me, you know?” He starts, his bass filled voice is low and smooth as he speaks, “What would I have done... if something happened to you? Worse than... this.” He dips the cloth back into the water to clean it off before wringing it out and brining it back up to her shoulder. His eyes momentarily looking up towards her face, before they drop again as his head dips in almost shame.

             ”I should me... protecting you.”

privacy was pretty hard to come by when you lived in a cabin as small and overcrowded as the hermes cabin.  as the councilor luke had tried to make a space for the kids that were uncomfortable changing around other kids but the best he could do was hang some shower curtains in the corner.

but he wasn’t in camp anymore.  he had left the noisy,  rowdy hermes cabin along with the rest of the camp and his new associates were far more likely to stab him in the back than laugh at his boxers.  backbiter was already in his hands when he spun around to face the intruder.  he was relieved to see it was another human but that didn’t mean he took his hand off the hilt of his sword.    “    well ?  is the ship on fire ?  have the monsters finally turned on us ?  or is there some other reason this couldn’t wait for me to put on a shirt ?    ”

As with all his children, his relationship with Elizabeth was... terse at best. Though not for lacking of trying, it was quickly apparent that Hermes’ suggestion of the ‘cool dad’ approach would not be as successful as promised. It be entirely due to his performance, but unfortunately friendly smiles and parent-charm did not come so easily to him.

     “It’s not as though I don’t believe in your capabilities,” is his quick attempt at back-pedalling, “I’m simply stating that I’m... here for you?”

Nico scowled at the water. He’d learned how to appeal to Iris to accept a message with a rainbow, and now that he found a way to make the light hit the water just right, he could spy on things for just a little while. He’d already looked over all there was to see at Camp Half-Blood, but whatever protection was in place made the picture fuzzy, so he turned his attention to the other interesting area: Luke’s army.

He had to know what his enemies were doing, he reasoned with himself. And he wasn’t really sure who all his enemies were. He knew Dr. Thorn was on Luke’s side and Dr. Thorn definitely wanted to kill him, so Nico was pretty sure Luke counted as an enemy. Nico couldn’t trust Percy either, that much was obvious too, and he drilled a hole in the ground with his finger as he thought about it. Definitely not to be trusted. 

The monsters that Luke had on his side made his stomach cramp nervously, drawings from his Mythomagic cards brought to life, but he saw some people among them too. Other demigods? he wondered, scanning the crowd via rainbow.

“I hate this and I hate you,” Nico replied, voice flat. He didn’t really mean it, the second part anyways, because he did care about his half-sister and was growing more worried for her by the minute, but he definitely hated whatever it was they were doing right now. Which in Nico’s case, was watching Elizabeth get drunk.

He wasn’t entirely sure how it started. Nico had been meaning to go down to the Underworld for awhile to check on things, and when he arrived to do just that, his sister grabbed him by the arm and yanked him in the opposite direction. It made for probably the fastest stop to the Underworld by a mortal, but Nico found himself in a bar only a few minutes later. 

“I’m underage, you know.” Technically, he was also very over-age if looked at in another way.
