A brief and quiet chuckle leaves his lips after he listens to what the female said, and he shakes his head a few times as if he doesn’t believe in her — which is not truth, because he does believe and knows she’s quite right.
But it’s not like Minseo cares about that, anyways. He doesn’t.
“Yes, I do know.” He answers to her question with a small smile spreading on his lips, and takes his eyeglasses off for a moment just to rub the lenses against his sweater. “But the universe would be doing me a favor if I was indeed, killed.”
And he makes a pause, just to look at her with raised eyebrows and tilted head. “But don’t get me wrong, I’m not some suicidal or anything.”
The skin of her forearms puckered into faint goosebumps. His attitude towards his near-death experience entirely too nonchalant for her comfort. On top of that, despite his insistence that he wasn’t suicidal, it reminded her too much of the dark way she previously thought in her first months on Earth.
Vartouhi managed a weak smile, still feeling a little sick to her stomach from the gut-wrenching panic she’d experienced seeing him almost topple off the ledge of the rooftop. “I’m not sure how else to interpret that, really,” she replied quietly.
He was lucky it was her that happened upon the rooftop. A normal human would not have had time to run across and grab him. With her telekinesis, she’d been able to pull him back over the ledge. Touhi swallowed hard, still unsure if he was oblivious to her alien nature. She was fairly certain he’d been turned away when she landed on the rooftop, and she had managed to dart over fast enough to act as though she had grabbed him and pulled him manually. But it was all a blur from the panic. Though, she reasoned with herself, wouldn’t he be reacting much differently if he had witnessed it?
Finally, she took a deep breath and sighed, her arms crossing loosely over her stomach. “Well... Admittedly, it did seem as though it was an accident.” Her teeth worried at her bottom lip as she stared at him. She opened her mouth, hesitated, and then finally continued, “I... can’t bring myself to leave you here. I hate to be a bother, but it would give me more peace of mind if I spent some time with you to really make sure that...” She trailed off, gesturing with one hand to where he had almost tumbled to his death before the hand tucked itself back in the other arm’s elbow. “...was genuinely an accident.”
