5 things that make me happy
Was tagged by @joanielspeak. Saw another of these running around that did fic recs, so I’m gonna try that.
1: Revolutionary Etude by Ololon: I’ve raved about this one before so I won’t repeat myself to much. Suffice to say, if you are a Garashir fan, a Garak fan, DS9 fan, or hell, just a fan of good writing, then you need to read this. It is a masterwork, weaving together so many elements into a complex picture that cannot be explained, only experienced. It’s long, but it’s well worth it your time, trust me.
2: Rescues by drinkbloodlikewine and whiskeyandspite: This Hannigram alternate universe is adorable. Like, just some wholesome goodness here. Mischa is alive, Hannibal is her guardian, Will trains service dogs, and Beverly is the sassy best friend we all need in life. Great for a rainy day.
3: Tom Gets Spanked by Chianine: This one’s not so wholesome, lol. Sure is fun tho...I indulge in some RPF from time to time, and well...Tom Hiddleston doing porn is just too could a premise to pass up, lol. Especially when there’s spanking involved...
4: Weep Little Lion Man by RhineGold: So this is a weird one to describe as making me “happy,” but it’s just such a deftly written little thing I just can’t help it. Set within the Stargate: Universe...universe, its two chapter tell the same story from two different perspectives, that of Colonel Everett Young and Doctor Nicholas Rush. It’s...not a happy story, dealing with some pretty serious trauma as well as abuses of power and rape, so proceed with caution. But it is a damn interesting read, and anything I say beyond that is probably just going to confuse things so I’ll leave it at that.
5: magic, lost and found by circa1220bce: All right, so this one’s been left unfinished for a while is probably abandoned but I just can’t not rec this story, okay? An alternate universe Thorki fic that weaves together comic and norse mythology along with its own, creating something entirely new. A story about love and magic and cruelty and deception, about the lies we tell ourselves and the lies we tell each other, about family and duty and how sometimes when things break they get stronger. This is one of those stories that sticks with you, and I still think about it sometimes years later. Sadly incomplete, but what’s there I think is still worth looking at.
...And, I could do some many more of these, but there’s five fics that makes me super happy. Like, I won’t even say they’re my favorite or the best ever, they’re literally just the one’s that came to mind in five minutes. There’s so much good fic out there guys...y’all are amazing.
