Unfortunately tk doesn't suppor HiDPI at all.

Detect high DPI display in JavaScript

I have a MacBook Pro with Retina display, and I think the display is going to catch on. Technically known "high DPI", they offer twice the pixels shoved into the same space. They look bloody good, if sites support them.

High DPI screens are in near every present Apple product, as well as Microsoft Surface and most new Samsung smartphones/tablets - it doesn't look like they're going away, so we need to support them.

Text on these screens looks great already, but we need to provide twice as large images for high DPI displays without forcing non-high DPI users to download images twice the size that they don't need.

I've made a snippet to detect it easily.

If you'd rather use a library to do it automatically, retina.js is the way to go.

If your images are stored in CSS, you should use media queries instead.
