After a peaceful night camping alone by the lake in Vermont, I decided to check out Mt. Greylock the next morning, which is the highest peak in Massachusetts. The drive down US-7 from VT to MA was really scenic and fun to drive!
From a quick google search I found that the best trail to hike to the summit is the Bellows Pipe Trail. But I also read that to avoid the crowds and also be rewarded with some great views, I should take the much more challenging Thunderbolt ski trail so of course that’s what I did! I instantly regretted it though as I had to stop many times to catch my breath but it was worth it since I avoided people and the views were definitely nicer especially at the big bend (you can hear me catching my breath 😅).
When I got to the summit I saw there was a tower and so I had to get a view from the top! It was pretty neat how you could see so far out and into NY, VT, MA, and supposedly even south into CT (which is the window I was staring at lol)! I was so fortunate that the weather was clear and sunny so I could see really far in all directions!
