Ian revered his alone time. As an only child raised by a widowed grandmother who worked and maintained quite the social calendar he learned how to entertain himself from an early age. Even when he did spend time with friends he felt most at easy in the company of a few people over the presence of a large group of like minded folks. Having formally gotten back with Bo during the summer Ian hadn’t needed the presence of others as much. His time had been fully occupied with caring for his partner and the aftermath of the tragedy that hit their sleepy community.
It was cruel really the way thing only became worse. They felt like they’d finally reached some normalcy in Shrike again. Hell had frozen over with the coming of winter or so they’d all thought. Even though he was back home life had remained changed forever. The privacy and alone time he had no longer existed-- Ian didn’t want to be left alone ever right now. That was why Finn was coming by that afternoon. As much as Ian hated it there were times he had to let his partner leave their place and groceries were a necessity they’d been putting off. Many people brought things by for them but it would be nice to get their proper shopping list acquired. There were some staples only Bo could really shop for himself. Ian wasn’t exactly putting in many shopping list requests but was getting pickier lately. One of the few things he could control was what he ate and as much as he liked others cooking... sometimes he just wanted his favorite frozen dinner with a nice cold TaB.
Donnie and Bo had just headed off and in the shuffle of being left outside Ian and Finn found themself in Ian’s stairwell sharing a joint. This felt like the most normal activity he’d done in a while. Ian filled his lungs with smoke cautiously before handing the joint off to his friend and exhaled towards his feet. Even with as many clothes as he’d put on he still felt cold and he knew they’d have to make this smoke break quick. “Thanks again for the ice cream you dropped by a while ago. We only just finished it the other night,” he thanked Finn. Maybe ice cream was on his brain because he was freezing and that was a better place for his mind to go when thinking about cold things.
