MAKE UP REVIEW: Detail make over Contour and Blush palette 4 in 1
To those who don’t know me, I’m in love with make up and basically obsessed to the point that I watch make up tutorials on Youtube daily. Shout out to my girls Desi Perkins, Lustrelux and Nikkietutorials who always slayin. Yas girl. Give it to me. And to those who don’t know me, here’s a fact: I’m like super matipid. But I must say I’m not the kuripot kind, though. I’m just the I’m-a-mom-and-i-have-to-save-because-baby’s-future type. I don’t spend for wants unless I’ve read good reviews about the item or unless I really, like reaally need it. When it gets to make up, I’m matipid as well. I’m well off with drugstore brands because I’m not picky like that, but of course, I always make sure that I don’t buy fake items found everywhere. Extra careful to those re-sellers on Instagram who claim that their products are authentic when they only got it from Divisoria.
Last night I was browsing through BeautyMNL in search for a good contour and highlight palette. I was searching for an affordable one on sale in particular because I recently just purchased a new oven, baking pans and a few materials at the appliance store the other day plus some items which I bought from Colourpop-- and not to mention the splurge on my last out of town trip with the family. Unfortunately just last night I realized my contour palette from smashbox ran out on me and was left with no choice but to buy one that still fits my budget. Not to mention I can’t live without contour. I cannot be seen with my face not looking as cut as Kim K. Haha. I spotted Detail make over’s contour and Blush palette 4 in 1. Originally priced at P500 but was on sale for P350. I was hesitant at first because there was no actual photo of the palette, but after reading reviews of the item, I bought it right away. Not that I had a choice. I couldn’t splurge on anything more. I sent my order around roughly 10:30 to 11pm and I expected it to arrive next week because that’s usually how Lazada works, but surprisingly it arrived this morning at exactly 11:30am! I commend BeautyMNL for that super fast and literally hassle free transaction.
First thing I noticed was their packaging which looked so fresh and hip. I’d give them a plus for the ziplock bag which I’d re-use because I’m DIY like that. Haha.
I also received a few freebies!
This is the packaging of the palette which I must say reminds me of City Color.
At the back of the box, there’s a photo of the “supposed” colors of the palette itself but didn’t even come close to the actual colors. This actually was the reason why I was hesitant at first to purchase, just because there was no actual photo posted on their add up in the website, and I honestly didn’t like the colors on the packaging of the box. The contour looked like a really warm toned dark brown, the top blush looked too orange and the blush below it looked brownish red. The colors would do great as an eyeshadow palette but not for contouring, but unless you have dark complexion, then this would suit you. Good thing I was skeptical towards the catalog which led me to google about the product. After reading some reviews on blogs about the item, and after seeing actual photos I decided to get it.
They even have instructions printed out which would be really be helpful for beginners.
What I love about this is palette is its texture’s buttery and easy to blend. Based on my finger swatch, it’s pigmented. I haven’t tried this using a brush and on my face but will surely make a separate review about that.
The other thing I love about the palette is that it has a warm toned brown and 2 cool toned browns. The highlight has just the right amount of shimmer, as well, but I’m guessing the highlight swatch on my arm looked super white, which isn’t how it really is when applied thinly. It’s shimmery, silver-ish and super blendable. I think it only turned out like this because I got too much product on my finger. The blush I’m not crazy about, but I do love the lighter pastel coral-ish pink. It’s usually the shade of blush I use which totally suits my skin tone.
This other photo was taken indoors and the other photo above this was taken outdoors, obviously.
Soooo basically, that’s it! I’m pleased with the product for the price of P350. It totally met my expectation for a product with a really affordable price. If you’re matipid like me and looking for a complete all in 1 palette, I’m sure you’d totally love this. Might as well order now while there are still stocks of the item up on beautyMNL.
