I see that you've read Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe and the first 2 books of the Captive Prince Trilogy (all of which I loved and devoured w/in a day), and I was wondering if you recommend some any books you think have similar romance developments and romantic relationships (fluffy and steamy). Any length is fine, but longer is often better. :)

Oh, I always get all nervous when someone asks me for recs, because what if they hate them? but I will try my best. :)Note 1: I assume you at least heard of the books popular on booklr, so I will try to list you some, that are not widely known (all of which I rated 3 stars or more).Note 2: I don’t read a lot of contemporary books, so most of them are either fantasy or something similar! On the fluffier side of things:YAThe Rules of Ever After by Killian B. BrewerThis is mostly a fluffy cute story in which a fairytale prince REALLY doesn’t want to marry a princess. He wants a prince. But how to tell everyone? Especially after he meets the one? Not that he gets to think about that (or about if the one feels the same way for that matter) for too long, since he has to go on an adventure to save his father and kingdom. He also makes some friends on the way and corrects old mistakes. You will meet lots of familiar fairytale characters.Willful Machines by Tim Floreen

It’s the future! Not so far that humanity lives in space or something, but there are tiny robots that float around you instead of phones! There also used to be robots that looked exactly like people. After a big oopsie where one murdered a human they got outlawed  and all that jazz tho. Not that the son of the president actually cares all that much cause he has his own problem. He’s gay, but (as usual) no one knows. And now there is a super cute new student at his boarding school. Damn the universe for all the weird things that suddenly start to happen! Just let a dude have his romance!Wonders of the Invisible World by Christopher BarzakSomething feels wrong in the life of our protagonist. It’s like he’s sleepwalking through his life… but that only starts bothering him when his best childhood friend moves back into town and starts asking weird questions about how he totally doesn’t remember his childhood? And a lot of other things? Wtf is going on with that? Aaaaaalso his best friend is kind of really cute? And the only one he can trust? Yeeeaaaah.Not YA but still more on the cute/plotty side than steamy:The Fire’s Stone by Tanya Huff

A thief gets caught in the act (damn stucco ceilings!). Usually that would result in his death, but the prince thinks the thief is awfully pretty and interesting. So his father thinks it would be a good lesson to go “Well, then you can keep him, but if you tire of him, he dies!” and now they’re stuck together. Also something important gets stolen, the prince is supposed to marry soon and the thief just wants to pout and “Does not like men that way!” (well, he is wrong about that).Note: I think this is out of print, but you can still easily get it in the omnibus book Of Darkness, Light and Fire which also comes with another, very readable story!

Smoke Trilogy by Tanya Huff (Note: I rec Tanya Huff in general!)The story of a gay PA at the set of a Vampire Detective show in Vancouver, who has a vampire ex boyfriend (whom he is still friends with) and a huge crush on one of the lead actors. Shadows that move on their own accord. Haunted houses. A Demon Overlord. And lots and lots of humor. Note: The gay romance is not the main focus of this one, but it does get a decent chunk of page time (especially in the second one) and this is just a really really entertaining trilogy and not at all as creepy as it may sound.The Stone Prince by Fiona Patton

Even in a world where women are totally equal to men (for example, women have literally the same titles - there is no queen, there is only a king no matter the gender) and same sex relationships are not frowned upon, a prince needs to marry a woman to get heirs. It’s just a bit problematic if the crown prince has sworn himself to never be unfaithful to his boyfriend. Ooops.Note: They’re already together in the beginning, but we do get flashbacks.Nightrunner series by Lynn FlewellingThis used to be a staple for everyone interested to read about a gay relationship in fantasy, so I’m kind of confused that I don’t see it pop up a lot anymore.Okay, so our main character has the worst luck and finds himself in a prison cell for a crime he didn’t commit. But he also has the best luck, because his cellmate (who is a charming, witty thief… but also a noble… he’s many things) just knows what to do and when he asks the main character if he wants to be his student, of course he says yes. Lots of adventures (and eventual romance duh) ensue!And now more onto the steamy side of things:Stories Beneath Our Skin by Veronica Sloane

Our main character loves tatooing. He’s good at it. He gave it up years ago because of sad reasons. Now he’s in college and wants to start again- at a tattoo shop where quite a few strange, but also kind and awesome people work. But the kindest and most awesome might be the owner of the shop… but it will take some struggles and sadness before everything gets better.Shades of Gray by Brooke McKinleyNo, it’s nothing like that other book.An FBI agent is tasked with hiding an extremely important eyewitness (who is also a criminal). That includes living with him in an apartment. You can guess where that goes. But do they really love each other? Or rather, how long will the denial of feelings hold? And what about the dangerous people on the hunt for our protagonists?Cut & Run series by Abigail Roux & Madeleine UrbanFBI once again. But this time both of them are. And both of them are a lot more stubborn than the two above. Feelings? Nah. No feelings here, sir! I just sleep with him exlusively. We also cuddle. But no feelings! Promise! You guessed it, they will take a while, but ofc they do admit it eventually and it’s a very funny ride (the cases are pretty flat, but the characters are super entertaining).Okay and now I’m blanking for real. I’m half sure I forgot at least one… but watcha gonna do. I hope I could at least help a little bit (and if you want a list of the tumblr famous ones afterall, just say so). I tried to narrow it down to the more cute/romantic/plotty ones and I hope that was what you wanted. If you want more info on one of them, tell me. :)

What was Etoile like as a young lad? If he didn't care about his royal status, did he avoid doing his royal training sessions (ex. etiquette)?

I kind of went overboard so I put the info under a  readmore… ^^;

When he was young, his family would try to force him to be proper and have perfect posture and nice manners. (Typical rich people stuff). Most of the time he hates being told what to do, sometimes even if it’s the right thing. As a child he’d get loads of presents during Christmas and his birthday. But as he got older people started to care less. Once he hit his teens he was told that toys and presents are for children. At certain points his family would try and force him to grow up. But regardless, he’s still a kid at heart. He still watches cartoons, he even goes behind his family’s backs and spend the money they give him on toys and collectibles.

**This part explains why he’s so beautiful: His mother wanted a girl, so that she could be the most beautiful in all the land. But she got a boy. She didn’t really care though (because boys can be beautiful too!!), she just wants her child to be beautiful, to be envied. So she’d buy/make Etoile dresses, skirts, anything that make him more beautiful whether they’d be “girl” clothes or “boy” clothes. (She’s a bit obsessed with beauty/power as you can tell). Etoile actually got the whole “beauty is everything” drilled into his head. So it’s hard for him to not care about his looks. Etoile doesn’t care what he wears, he’ll try to look beautiful regardless. As Etoile got older his looks actually started to resemble his mother. Which was good for her. Because like I said she wanted a beautiful child. Most children would envy his looks, some would want to be him. Etoile and most of his family feed off jealousy.**

He never really made any friends, and if he did, it was only because they were using him (his money, his status). Most children from his land were actually afraid to be friends with him because most of his family members are horrible, so the children thought he’d have a mean/horrible personality too. (He does but not as bad as most of his family members though.) His family would just tell him “he doesn’t need friends, he’s famous and rich”

Year after year, his family would set up arranged marriages, which he absolutely despises because he’s unable to see/meet the person until the wedding day. He wants to find love his own way.

He literally only likes being a royal when he gets to do what he wants and/or get spoiled.

hmm i dont really listen to a specific genre. i mean the music i grew up with is like 70s/80s rock so im very particular to that but i generally listen to whatever.

i cant think of anything like totally bad but like i generally over analyze everything before i do anything just so bad things dont happen. i guess i could say that time last year when i deliberately walked away from the house even tho my dad was screaming at me to come back was a bad idea but i just had to do it yanno? had to do something. things are better now, though.

Wow!!! That blanket is awesome! And you are awesome for making such a thing! What stitch did you use (it looks like some variation of the rib stitch)? Did you draw up your own pattern/grid to follow?

Thank you! :3 <3It was all done in stockinette stitch (1 row knit, next row purl, rinse and repeat)! And I did 2 rows of a crocheted border so the ends don’t curl up.Yup, I made the pattern myself using a mixture of microsoft excel and photoshop based off an image of the Team Gurren flag. :D
