Stefan hadn't left Mystic Falls. After high school, he had plans of going off to be a doctor, travelling around the world and helping people but...reality set in. His mother had gotten sick, and to make ends meet, Stefan, his father, and his brother all decided that they were going to stay local, go to college and work as many jobs as possible so they could be with the woman they loved most, and make sure her hospital bills were paid. He'd changed a lot since high school. The twenty-eight year old was now a mechanic, a nurse in training at the local clinic, and one of the cooks at the Mystic Grille.
And now he had to go to his high school reunion.
One of his best friends, and his mother, had convinced him to go to the event. He didn't want to, partially because he didn't want to run into anyone that he hadn't seen in years. But as long as Caroline was there, he wouldn't feel so alone. He could lay low and go unnoticed for a while until the music came on and everyone was too busy networking to notice he'd left. But as they stepped back into their old stomping grounds...Caroline had neglected to tell Stefan that the girl he'd been in love with in high school, Elena Gilbert had RSVP'd....this was going to be one hell of a reunion.
