High Tea Buffet! (@speciallyi I wrote this for youuuu)
Okay so I got the chance to go to Merchant Court at Swissotel for a high tea buffet for a baby shower. Let's just say... I probably won't be back there again HAHA.
(Lack of photos cos I didn't charge my phone the night before and I didn't wake up early enough to charge T.T)
Anyway we were eating at this Ellenborough Market Cafe, I know the buffet starts from 330-530 but the baby showers was from 3-5 so we came about 10-15 minutes earlier cos the bro-in-law wanted to help out. BUT the lunch buffet ended at 230 so they needed time to clean up/set up and they didn't allow us to take a seat -.-
So we went back out to the lobby and since there were about 150 guests so we kinda flooded the lobby near the market cafe hahaha. And at about 3.05 we were allowed to go in but... there were lotsa admin matters cos they had to count the guests or smth so there goes another 20 minutes. Was abit chaotic LOL.
Meeting random people who saw me at the ROM (not mine) 8 years ago and said I've grown alotttttt. But I was thinking I was 13 back then and the lady made it sound like I had the height of an 8yo. LOL
Back to the food.. they do have variety and certain food ran out very quickly (sashimi) but they were quick enough to replenish them. There were the basic chinese dishes like fried rice, drumstick, carrot cake, mee goreng etc, some soba, baos and desserts... but they were only soso. I think my favourite would be the satay hahaha.
& perhaps it was an old building so there were lotsa turns and there were tables seated at random corners. Food was split into 3 section with one sections covering the main dishes while the other 2 covered desserts like ice cream, waffle and some drinks.
I wouldn't really go to this place to hold my event because of the layout - it was quite hard to find who sits where and there were no table numbers. But I guess it would be a good cosy place you'll wanna go with smaller numbers.
Oh, and on the website it was said that the seating capacity was for 250 people but they were quite shorthanded even though there were 150 guests - so yes here's another point to take note.
Initially I had abit of battery left in my phone but there were too many people and I was quite ps to take photos HAHAH. And then where there were less people then my batt was left with 5% and the phone doesnt allow me to take anymore photos.
Oh ya the main food section was probably too small for 150 to all go at once and although the layout was somewhat in a square it was still quite messy and there wasn't like a specific order for you to follow through.
