Redbud Winter by cliffordswoape For over half a century, I have heard about the early spring cold snap called Redbud Winter. The old-timers pass down the lessons to watch the blooming of the trees to warn of the cold snaps that accompany them. In their wintry ranks are Locust Winter, Dogwood Winter, Blackberry Winter, and others, depending on where you live. In Tennessee, we always expect that there will be a snow on the daffodils (buttercups), but I believe this is the first time I have seen actual snow on the redbuds in the Volunteer State. This picture was taken near the Rock House along US 70S in Sparta; at the base of Bon Air Mountain. https://flic.kr/p/257tEDm
