CHARACTER QUESTIONNAIRE
Please answer the following questions in the voice of your selected character.
Why do you believe your wand chose you? – Well, unicorn hair is known to produce “consistent magic”, according to Ollivander. My marks show that my magic has certainly always been consistent, though I like to believe that has as much to do with me as it does with the wand. Furthermore, wands with unicorn hair cores have a predilection to remain “faithful” to their owners, and I believe this is significant because I count myself as a loyal person. Of course, this is a well-known Gryffindor trait, but to believe that people are reduced to a brief list of traits merely based on which House they’re in is rather short-sighted. Ravenclaws can be quite loyal, as well, as can any House, though the manner in which they display that loyalty may be more similar between members of one House than members of another. As for the wand wood itself, elm wands are known to result in the fewest accidents, which, for the same reason as the unicorn hair producing consistent magic, is a possible reason as to why the wand chose me. Elm wands are “capable of highly advanced magic”, and I certainly believe that I am, too. (Source material – The Notes of Garrick Ollivander)
Do you believe you were sorted correctly? – Absolutely. Although I do wish I had been placed in a different House than my brother, the possible Sorting error in question lies with Zac, not myself. I frankly have no clue why my brother was placed in Ravenclaw, but that is besides the point, and not the question you asked. I believe I was Sorted correctly, yes. The academic atmosphere pervading Ravenclaw tower is well-suited for me. I have found that many of my fellow Ravenclaws are at least understanding of my preference for books, even if they don’t feel precisely the same way themselves. Particularly History of Magic, although the rest of the school seems to find it quite dull, which I find utterly inexplicable.
When casting the Patronus Charm, which happy memory would you focus on? – That’s a rather personal question, but I suppose since it’s been posed, I’ll answer it. The happy memory I focus on to cast my Patronus is the moment I received my Hogwarts letter. Perhaps that’s a rather generic answer, but it’s less because of the letter itself and more because of the look on my father’s face.
How do you feel your time at Hogwarts has affected you as a person? – I feel that it has allowed me to, of course, expand my horizons in an intellectual manner, but also learn more about myself. The response of my classmates and teachers to my knowledge base has opened up a career opportunity for me that I hadn’t considered before. And it’s allowed me to find my own niche and develop socially. I’ll be the first to admit that my interpersonal skills aren’t necessarily the best, but being at Hogwarts has led me to making friends and being more comfortable with people.
Where do you see yourself in five years? – In all honesty, I’m not sure. I quite like the idea of being a teacher, but I’m not sure. And I believe that teaching is a calling, one that you should be fully dedicated to without uncertainty about your path. I think I would quite enjoy just being a historian. Of course, I’m sure that doesn’t pay very much, but I think passion and enjoyment would make up for it.
