         as much as he’s trying not to binge , troy’s already had his third churro and is on his first bucket of popcorn — fuck. at least he’s steering clear of the fairy floss. that’s the magic of the night circus ; it bewitches you , reels you in and makes you feel a certain way and then spits you out at sunrise. at least for troy it is and perhaps that’s aided by his tipsy state. the illusionists have his eyes locked in wonder at the moment , and he scoffs only to address the person next to him. “ did you see that ? you can’t tell me that wasn’t sick. i know they have that ‘ secrets of a magician ’ or whatever it’s called , but how the fuck do they do that ? ”

“ you know what would make all of this even better ? “ katie then leans in slightly, as if to keep anyone from overhearing. “ some booze, but you didn’t hear it from me.“

“ i may or may not have a made a beeline for the popcorn and caramel apples.“ vera offers somewhat sheepishly, as if anyone could blame her. the sweet smell alone had been calling her attention. “ what have you checked out so far ? or what do you recommend seeing ? “

“ oh hey.“ nessa greets warmly at the familiar face, hot chocolate in one hand and a caramel apple in the other. “ have you gotten some hot chocolate ? if not i highly recommend it’s the BEST hot chocolate i have ever had.”

willa’s gaze glances around from tent to tent, completely impressed. “ wow.“ is the only word she utters, to anyone else it may have seemed childish but she found it pretty amazing. so much to see, and so much to do.“ i almost don’t know where to start or what to look at first.“

THE NIGHT CIRCUS !

the circus arrives without warning. no announcements precede it. it is simply there, when yesterday, it was not. overnight while the town slept, large tents were put up all across hillston memorial park, the black and white stripes a stark contrast to the colourful exterior of the town. the night circus is one of the most famous touring acts of the country, and is incomparable to any other circus you may know. the acrobats fly high above the ground without fear, the illusionist is easily the best in the country, and the maze of clouds overshadows even the hall of mirrors. the popcorn is always the perfect mix of salt and butter, the hot chocolate known to warm one from the inside out, and the caramel apples would be a crime to pass up. the only catch is the circus is only open from sunset to sunrise, and once you’ve stepped foot into the first tent, tenants often spend their night wanting to explore every single one.

who can attend: there are shows and tents for all age groups, so it’s got something for everyone !

ooc details:

when: it will last both a week for our characters and for us. this will give you all plenty of time to whip up some fun threads with plenty of characters, and get to fully enjoy all that the night circus has to offer. 

interactions: as usual, for events we always recommend shorter, quick-fire replies purely for the purpose of being able to get more done in the shorter amount of time for the event. we do recommend putting your regular threads on pause for the week, though you can continue them if you wish. if you’re doing both though, please tag your event threads as such so that no one gets confused.

notes: events are always a great way to start threads with new people, so consider this your weekly challenge to start a thread with a mun or character you’ve never interacted with before, or haven’t talked to as much. it’s a great time to break free of the usual dynamics and delve into some new ones !
