My brother, @nacho5766, just gave me this bottle of rum from the Dominican Republic, Brugal Leyenda. This is a dark, double-aged rum that spends the first part of its life in discarded American white oak bourbon barrels, then matures in Spanish red oak barrels. It's a tribute bottle to the company's founder, Don Andrés Brugal Montaner. This is the best rum I have ever had. Sipped at room temp by way of a snifter, I can certainly appreciate its bourbon influence along with sharp woody notes that's mellowed by a smokey molasses footing. To call this smooth is an understatement. This legendary rum deserves the elegant presentation by way of the bespoke bottle crafted by Allied Glass.
