Hi, sorry if this a little random! I know you know more about this stuff than me, but I've been seeing a lot of people saying they're going to stop listening to Little Mix because of some of their costumes for the Salute Tour, especially the intro video where they kind of wear cultural makeup and headdresses. I know that it's not completely ok, but I wouldn't stop listening to them since they're really good musically. I just wanted to know your opinion since you like them too and stuff

Hey Mish! :D Yeah I'm so torn on this because everything about the tour is perfect except for some of the outfits!

Tbh though, from what I've seen most of the people saying they'd stop listening are just people who already hated them and want a reason to exacerbate that hate. People have to realise that at their level, they hardly have much of the decision making in areas such as costume/style, it's not THEM it's their STYLISTS. 

And I hope those people ask themselves if they've stopped listening to Katy Perry, Beyonce, Selena Gomez, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Miley Cyrus, iggy Azalea, Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Avril Lavigne, and a trillion others - basically every artist - who've had histories of cultural appropriation. Some of whom are really persistent on being little shits even after being criticised on it for years (KATY PERRY) and just never take the correction from this.

LOL OR if they're just hating because they're STILL salty about Zayn x Perrie.

Also basically they should also stop watching any movie with white people trying to represent other cultures/stories because it's aLL appropriation. 

The ideal thing to do here is just to talk about what's wrong listen to rational arguments on both sides; just being like ugh I hate them now won't make them or their stylists realise what's wrong? And the people defending have to recognise that their fave fucked up, and try to understand why, and get some awareness out hopefully it'll reach them. WITHOUT being fiercely defensive of their fave and end up adding to the problem of racism because fans are too busy pushing their apathy and ignorance but on the other end not being like OH MY GOD HATE THEM BASH ON THEM SEND THEM DEATH THREATS.
