Blog 24: Analyzing Ancient Myths: Hinduism and Buddhism Origins
The idea of Shambhala is not just fantasy; it is an echo across ancient wisdom. As I researched deeper into Hindu and Buddhist traditions, I discovered that Shambhala is more than a city; it’s a prophecy, a memory, a beacon of hope hidden behind reality. In Hinduism, it is the birthplace of Kalki, the savior who restores the world when darkness has fully risen. In Tibetan Buddhism, Shambhala is a place of enlightenment, accessible only to those with pure hearts and unwavering purpose.
These ancient texts and teachings revealed a powerful theme: that salvation is not found outside of us; it is hidden within. Shambhala is not a location to be discovered by force. It must be earned through awakening. This changed everything about how I designed Shambhala: The Ascension Protocol. It would not just be a physical journey; it would be a deeply emotional one. Players would not conquer Shambhala with power. They would unlock it through remembering who they truly are.
Myths are not meant to stay locked in ancient books. They are alive. They carry the dreams, fears, and hopes of every generation. And in Shambhala, I want to honor that not by copying the past, but by building a bridge between ancient dreams and future possibilities.
