How to Shuck Oysters AtHome #Tabletop #HingeMethod 1) Grab some great Oysters - from a local FishMonger or Online - Keep Oysters in the fridge with a damp towel covering only. Assemble in a bowl and icedown 50/50 ice and water - to chill 10-15 min prior to shucking. 2) The Station - Shucking can be a bit messy. Use a baking sheet to Shuck in - contains the Shell & Liquor (save the Liquor and use!) Use a teatowel, cloth, block or wood - or a HockeyPuck to shuck on. Use an OysterKnife - best option - there’s Many to choose from - I’m a bit partial to this one I invented.... #Yellow #MalpequeBlade @swissmar_official 3) Hold the Oyster on the puck - insert the tip of the blade into the hinge, and with a light twisting - like a key in a lock, set the blade and pop the hinge. Pry up and scrape the top shell from the oyster. Then loosen the oyster from the bottom shell - just under the adductor muscle. TaaDaa! 4) Like this! 5) My oyster tray designed to Shuck on and serve in as well! 6) Once all oysters are shucked, arrange on a plate for service. Top shell used to keep the oysters from rocking around on porcelain. Like this! 7)TaaDaa! Add some lemon. 8) Save the bottom shells - to use as a sauce ramekin - @humbleandfrank #HurricaneSriracha 9)Or Sup the oyster and sip a wee dram of whisky from the empty Oyster shell - More whisky fits in the empty shell...just sayin’ @dlaingwhisky #RockOysterWhisky if ye can find!
