At my school at the moment everyone seems to be obsessed with piercings and stretchers.
I'm one of the few girls who don't have their ears pierced. Not because I'm not allowed to, simply because I don't want them done. The desire to have a complete stranger put a hole in my ear lobe doesn't make sense to me. And you have to clean them out for ages, and they're asking for money to cause you extreme pain...no thanks.
I know some places charge for the earrings and not the piercing itself, but I still don't understand why people want a little bit of metal in their ears. Or in their nose. Or in their eyebrow or tongue or belly button. Or their hip? I'm still wondering how the whole hip bar thing works. A girl in my year has one, I haven't seen it in real life only in a photo, but it looks nice. And it's her body, so I'm not one to critisise it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against piercings, I just don't see the appeal.
My Mum actually wants me to get my ears done, I might in the future, but I really can't be bothered at this moment in time. Plus if I get it done now it had to stay in for 6 weeks, and we have to take out piercings for PE. We're not allowed to take them out for 6 weeks, so if I do get it done I'll have to do it during the summer holidays...or when I finish school.
Another thing that doesn't make sense if people piercing their own ears. EW. What if it gets infected and goes green? DOUBLE EW. You could give yourself blood poisoning. Not cool. A boy at my school got his cartilage done and that went septic. It was GROSS.
To conclude, I don't want my body pierced at all. I like it the way it is. And if we were meant to have things going through our flesh, we'd be born with holes in our ear lobes and nostrils. If you want to get it done, for fucks sake, get it done professionally or not at all.
Until next time for your next rant about random crap,
