Vincent Hyde was never told the truth of his birth. Taken as a child for the power that stirred in his blood, he was raised by the very person who stole him, believing them to be his mentor, guardian, and guide. They nurtured his talent, fed his hunger for knowledge, and kept him close with half-truths and shadows. To Vince, he was simply a boy with a gift, a learned witch shaped by brilliance and discipline. To his captor, he was an investment, a weapon waiting to be used.
His only dream of escape came with the woman he loved. Together, they planned to run. The night before they could, his captor killed her. It was meant to break him. Instead, it made him dangerous. He fled with nothing but grief and the knowledge he’d bled to have. He’s lived in hiding ever since, sharpening himself into something his captor never intended: a witch who cannot be underestimated. His manner is quiet, his kindness genuine, but behind it lies precision and control. Every spell he casts is deliberate, every choice weighed. To most, he looks like a man surviving on the outskirts. In truth, he’s biding his time and anyone who mistakes his softness for weakness won’t survive the lesson.

- The Captor's Hand // Someone still loyal to his captor and planted to try and find him. They may act like a friend, a rival, or even a confidant, but their loyalties are suspect.

- The Sibling // Someone from the family he was stolen from. They both may not know they're actually related.
- The Ambitious // A witch obsessed with pushing boundaries who keeps trying to pull Vince into their reckless experiments.
HUMAN:
- The Patient // Someone who was saved by Vince's "scientific discoveries," never realizing how much power goes into them. Their trust might be dangerous for both of them.
- The Scholar // Someone in the academic world who's impressed with his level of knowledge. They’re fascinated, maybe even suspicious, about how one man can know so much.

- The Sympathetic // A supernatural who sees Vince as their equal, another "found family" figure, even if their bond could seem strange to others.
- The Bargainer // A fairy who tries to tempt Vince into giving up some of his power in exchange for companionship and information. It hasn't worked yet, but keep wearing him down.
- The Project // A supernatural that just wants to be a human again. He's been trying his best to find a solution, but the price may be too steep for them to pay.
- The Blood Debt // A supernatural who owes him their life, saved by his magic. They are loyal, but it's complicated.

Ophelia Woodhouse was once the jewel of the Spring Court… Soft, radiant, and full of promise. But her beauty and blood made her a treasured target. She was stolen by a vampire who kept her captive, feeding on her as if she were nothing more than a vessel for survival. Years passed in chains, her spirit withering as her body was drained. By the time she was freed, the Spring she embodied had been smothered, her laughter replaced by silence, her light by shadows.
Now she is free, but far from unscarred. Ophelia moves through the world carefully, her softness fractured but not gone. There are moments when she seems fragile, petals trembling in the wind, but underneath, strength has begun to take root. She is learning how to stand again, how to tackle her past without being overwhelmed by it. Some see only the broken girl stolen by the dark; others glimpse the fairy who might yet rise from tragedy, stronger and sharper than ever before.

- The Suspicious // Someone who doesn't fully believe Ophelia's story and wonders if she's actually a traitor.
VAMPIRE:
- The Sired // Someone that had been changed by the very vampire who had kept her all those years. She may know them, or maybe she doesn't; either way, they may be looking to repent for their sire's sins.

- The Elder // An older person who's fascinated by the way she survived. They speak to her as though she’s proof of something rare.

Eric Serling has walked the night for centuries, old enough to command respect but not quite ancient yet. He owns Bar Sinister, a sultry haven where hunters, fairies, humans, and vampires all gather under his protection. Neutral ground is his shield, and so long as the bar thrives, so does his carefully chosen family of progeny. Eric sires rarely, only those who catch his favor, and protects them fiercely.
But his greatest secret isn’t in the bar... It’s in his bloodline. Long ago, he made a deal with a witch, and through her magic, they had a daughter. She lives still, hidden even from his allies, her existence being one of the only other soft spots in an otherwise ruthless life. Outwardly, Eric is all charm and menace, the indulgent host who plays the game better than anyone. Behind it, he’s a father willing to burn the world to keep his children safe.

- The Former Lover // An older vampire he was entangled with centuries ago, who’s resurfaced. They know his secrets... including his softer side.
HUMAN:
- The Family Friend // Someone who suspects the truth of Alyssum's upbringing and Eric himself, attempting to use it as leverage over him.
- The Regular // Someone who treats Bar Sinister like home and enjoys spending their time with the vampires there. They trust Eric to ensure their safety and fun.
- The Innocent // Someone new to town who's become fascinated by the bar's mystique. They want a taste of it all, but they might get more than they bargained for.
HUNTER:
- The Informant // Someone who owes Eric their life, and now, they feed him scraps of gossip and secrets in exchange for protection.
- The Tempted // They may have been a good hunter for a very long time, but now they're curious and teetering between duty and fascination with his charm.

- The Enforcer // An ally who acts as the Bar's bouncer. They're fiercely loyal and brutal... Just how Eric likes.

Jonah Basilone lived and bled as a hunter, a mercenary whose skill and loyalty made him invaluable. Following in his father’s footsteps, he spent years drifting between fights and contracts, carrying the family legacy with quiet pride. When he eventually came home, he was bruised and broken. It would take a long time to heal, but for the first time in a long time, he was learning how to be happy— surrounded by his friends, building a life that wasn’t just about survival.
On one seemingly average hunt, that bond was shattered. Ambushed by a powerful vampire, Jonah was overpowered, forced to drink, and his neck snapped before his companions’ eyes. They ran, sure they’d just watched him die. But Jonah didn’t stay dead. He woke in darkness, his body alive but wrong, his veins burning with hunger that felt more like a curse than salvation. Now, he’s terrified of what he could have become and what his friends will see when he stands before them again.
He believes that he’s still the same Jonah— still the soldier who would die for them, still the mercenary they can count on. But in truth, he is the very thing they’ve spent their lives fighting. Every mission with them is a silent betrayal; every laugh or memory is tainted. Still, he clings to the identity of a hunter, even when he knows it’s already slipping through his fingers. Deep down, he’s terrified that the man they once knew was buried the night he turned, and what’s left is only his ghost.

VAMPIRE:
- The Sire // The vampire who turned him, either out of cruelty or curiosity. They could see him as a soldier to be bent, not a man to be saved. Their bond is both power and poison.
- The Sibling // Someone else who was sired by the same vampire. They are perhaps the only one who truly understands what he's going through.
- The Shadow // Someone who adores Jonah’s hunter background and constantly taunts him to embrace the monster within. They romanticize violence and want to see him break.
- The Dangerous Flame // Someone who finds Jonah's grief and resistance intoxicating. To them, his tragedy makes him beautiful, and they enjoy coaxing him into the spice of being with another a vampire.
- The Murderer // Someone who killed humans and fought against Jonah during one of his hunts. They relish the irony of him being the very thing he fought against.
- The Innocent // Someone who lost a sired sibling to Jonah's violence. They didn't know it was him who did it... But Jonah does.
HUMAN:
- The Anchor // A friend or loved one who doesn't know what's wrong with him. They embody the humanity that he fears losing.
- The Trusted // Someone Jonah confides in about his situation, and they offer to help him hide the truth until he gains full control over himself.
- The Almost-Victim // Someone Jonah nearly fed on when his hunger overwhelmed him. Instead of hating him, they became invested.
HUNTER:
- The Suspicious // Someone who looked up to Jonah, but now they have a feeling that he is not who he was before he was "injured." They just don't have proof yet.
- The Rival // Someone who always measured themselves against Jonah's skill. They might feel a twisted mix of relief and betrayal if they discovered the truth.

- The Loyalist // Refuses to believe Jonah is “gone.” They see him, not the fangs, and insist he’s still their friend. They’ll defend him against anyone, even other hunters.
SUPERNATURAL & OTHER:
- The Observer // A supernatural who decides that Jonah needs to be watched, whether out of kindness, curiosity, or the hope of exploiting him.
- The Heartbroken // Someone who had a crush on Jonah before the incident, and now that they're back, they think he's different. Lost. And they're bound and determined to bring him back.
- The Temptation // A fairy that was once a trusted friend, and now, they're in grave danger even being around him. They can sense that something is wrong, but perhaps not what.
- The Last Resort // A witch that Jonah goes to in the hopes that they could find a way to change him back. The price would be high, even if they could help him.
- The Enemy // A werewolf who clashes with Jonah's new instincts, making him feel more monster than human.
- Very open to ideas with him, no what what they are. Past hookups, exes, current flings— he's a mess right now. Poke at his feelings. Do your worst.
Dorothy has walked the earth for centuries, though she wears the face of a woman in her fifties and the story of a wealthy widow who inherited her husband’s fortune. In truth, she was born into cruelty as the daughter of a father whose violence marked every corner of her mortal life. It was then that an ancient vampire, one of the first, found her and her mother, offering only her an escape and power in the form of eternity. Dorothy accepted, and centuries later, she returned to settle the debt in blood, ending her father’s line with her own hands.
Now the leader of her kind, Dorothy sires only those in desperate need — the broken, the dying, the ones with no other choice. Each she takes in becomes part of her carefully chosen family, and Dorothy makes a point of checking in, guiding, and testing them long after their rebirth.
Compassion is as much her disguise as it is her weapon. She works at times as a therapist, listening to mortal griefs as though she were one of them, but every secret becomes part of her quiet arsenal. Those who mistake her warmth for weakness rarely survive the correction. Dorothy believes in people, but she has outlived enough centuries to know what they can become, and she is prepared to remind them who made her their queen.

- The Bargain // Someone who once came to her desperate for healing, protection, or even to save a loved one. She delivered, but now they owe her.
SUPERNATURAL & OTHER:
- The Distrusting // A fairy that dislikes the ties to their leader. They might openly express it or be looking for ways to pull them apart.
- The Scholar // A supernatural who knows far too much about vampire origins and suspects Dorothy is older and more dangerous than she admits.
- The Annoyance // A werewolf that's grown way too close to the vampires. She hates the danger and will do what it takes to keep them away.
- The Bloodbag // Could be fairy or human, but they supply Dorothy with the blood she needs to survive. Even better, they're discreet about it.
- I'm open to a lot of different connections for Dorothy, with her being the leader of the vamps. Hit me up, we'll figure out anything else.
Winnie Barrett was born into one of the most prestigious families of the Autumn Court, expected to uphold its reputation with grace. Instead, she lived for tricks— weaving pranks and bargains that pushed lines others would never cross. For years, her mischief was tolerated as “harmless,” until one joke went too far. What was meant to be a prank ended in death, and the laughter died with it.
Before the Court could strip her of her title and cast her out, Winnie fled, carrying the incident on her back like a ball and chain. Now she drifts from city to city, still quick with a grin, still whirling chaos wherever she lands, but her jokes land sharper, edged with guilt she refuses to name. She wants redemption, even if she doesn’t know how to earn it, but can’t stop being herself: clever, reckless, and unpredictable. For Winnie, mischief is in her DNA... even if it’s the very thing that ruined her.

Donovan spent his early life chasing an identity. Coming from a military family, he joined the service himself, and as a result, the discipline and structure gave him direction. But when he came home from deployment, he found his wife had cheated, shattering the life he thought he was fighting for. Rather than stay and drown in resentment, Donovan cleaned himself up, learned how to flirt, packed his bags, hit the road, and threw himself into odd jobs across the country. Anything to keep moving and keep from looking back.
It was on that road trip that his fate changed. One wrong night, one unlucky encounter, and Donovan was bitten. The change nearly killed him, but when he rose again under the full moon, he refused to let it define him. Now in his thirties, Donovan wears his curse with a grin. He’s charming, quick-witted, and magnetic— his brightness masking scars that never fully healed. Fiercely protective of those he calls family, Donovan sees the wolf inside him as both a gift and a burden. It’s made him stronger, but it’s also a reminder of how easily control can slip. To some, he’s the life of the party; to others, a danger waiting to happen. Either way, Donovan doesn't care. He's lived through worse.

Eun-Ji is originally from New York City. He had a good life there. He taught neurology at NYU, his wife was an accomplished psychiatrist, and their daughter thrived in school. But one New Years Eve took it all away. They had attended a work party hosted by his department. Eun-Ji had admittedly drank more than he had originally intended and so offered for his wife to drive them home in the snowy evening while he dozed in the passenger seat.
He wasn't awake when it happened. A truck ran a red, tires skidding on the icy pavement, and clipped their SUV. Their daughter was gone, and his wife blamed herself for being the driver that night. As she became more and more distant, their marriage fell apart. After the divorce, Eun-Ji decided he needed to leave the city. It held too many ghosts for him.
He moved to Hiraeth about three years ago, opting for a house near the school. Eun-Ji only leaves town twice a year, to visit his daughter on her birthday and on the anniversary of her death. He smiles to his neighbors, his coworkers, but there is no denying that a heaviness weighs him down.
