G’raha honestly doesn’t ever feel secure and comfortable. He feels like, in shorter terms, once they’re done with what they wanted from him, they’ll abandon him. So, he drops them before they can hurt him. But if you’re patient and show him you truly love him, he will soon become secured and comfortable. But otherwise… He’ll never truly find either security nor comfort.

Three Ascians. A dozen Primals. Five Lightwardens. But no, the hardest thing Kasumi had done in recent memory was leave her apartment at the Pendants that morning. Afternoon? Evening? Who even knew anymore...

Arms struck around herself, her body felt cold and leaden as she forced herself to put one foot in front of the other. Leaving the Pendants, trying to walk to the markets but wondering what she would even do there. Ardbert would have physically kicked her out if he could have, having had enough of her laying on her bed staring at a wall and ignoring his every attempt to snap her out of it. It was mostly to humour him that she had left, but there was simply nothing she wanted to do.

Maybe she should ask Alisaie if she could be taken in at the Inn at Journey’s Head... Wait for the inevitable there, and take the task of killing her out of her friends’ hands. But that would involve going near Alisaie. At the thought, she felt bile rising to her throat, and she had to stop, stand still, to swallow it down and take a few deep breaths. Keep it together.

She didn’t look at the caramels that had quickly become her favourite until now, knowing they would have no taste; she skipped the tavern entirely, not wanting to deal with Giott and his drinking at the moment. She glanced at the cane newly in stock from the Crystalline Mean, but what was the point? She couldn’t fight or heal like this.

From her peripheral vision, however, she spotted someone familiar. Altogether too familiar. Was that...?

She counts each battle by the breaths she takes; with each of them the same, it was the only way she knew how to. ONE. TWO. THREE. Her knives slice through the air with ease until they make contact with the white and gold veined demon. SIN EATERS. That’s what she was told they were called when she arrived mere months ago. Ever since, they’re all she’s ever known. Kolete sidesteps to the side with little thought, avoiding the spray of crimson that comes from the dying creature. AZURE EYES fall to the sputtering body that still reaches to claw at her ankles with pure monstrous instinct and she steps back only a few inches. FOUR. FIVE. SIX.

While she is watching the life fade from this one, another slams into her side with an ear piercing screech. SEVEN. EIGHT. NINE. Teeth grit as metallic flowers bloom from her busted lip, gunpowder veins ignite like wildfire through this DRY ROT BODY and as she whirls around and slams her heel into what she could only assume was the face of the thing. Ripping her second blade from her waist, she brings them both down into the stomach of the beast. TEN. Her gaze does not leave her kill for several seconds as she wipes a fist across her lip, leaving a trail of crimson over ivory sculpted flesh. ❝ Either they’re getting faster or i’m getting slower, ❞ she murmurs to herself mostly.

Turning, crystal gaze finds him. The bright, bright sun laden in GUNPOWDER and GRIME and she finds embarrassment in taking a hit in his presence. ❝ They’re growing stronger, I suspect, ❞ a mischievous grin tugs at her and she points to the rubies in her smile, ❝ Look, they hit just as hard as you do now. ❞
