@houstontxpsl - At today’s HISD Board Meeting, the unelected superintendent along with the unelected Board of Managers passed a motion to close 12 schools in predominantly Black and brown working class neighborhoods.
Today, in keeping with their tradition, the board acted against the interests of the very community they claim to serve. Students, school staff and community organizers joined the meeting to make loud and clear their opposition to this racist, anti-democratic scheme.
Despite this setback, the fight is not over. Our power comes from our willingness to struggle! We will continue to mobilize until our schools are back in OUR hands!
