Two sets of eyes fix on Damien. One drops casually to the owners lap, embarrassed - the other simply continues to stare, a hint of amusement hiding just under a thin layer of grim complacency.

( It was anyone’s guess at this point, though a slight dip of her brow might be the only idea that it’s an irksome thought: someone disliking him for any reason & then voicing it in any capacity, justified or not. )
Barbara’s face had turned a shade more pink than usual at being heard relaying the unsavory conversation that she herself overheard in the lobby earlier. A squeeze on Rennie’s arm was the only indication the other woman was excusing herself for some reason or another.
She was only really half listening anyway, consumed by her own thoughts as of late.

She settles against the chair, with a resigned & restless sigh.

She hadn’t had anytime to react before purposeful digits swept the offending curl from her face. Though it was an action that at most, took only a few seconds - - - it felt pleasantly longer & her skin felt warm where he had skimmed his fingers.
It took a full minute before she realized she’d been smiling up at him. It wasn’t often she found herself smiling at anyone genuinely. The admiration & adoration she often found welling up in her chest when they spent time together had not escaped her notice & it left a confusing, but happy glow in her eyes.
It very likely meant little to Damien at all, but she knew she’d think about this for the rest of the week. Probably.

It was a slow quip & the usual snarkiness had long since left her voice & before she could stop herself, she had grabbed him around the middle and locked him in a hug - her flushed cheek against his shoulder.

A gasp echoed in the darkness when Lucius regained conciousness. His head throbbed and he felt like throwing up....which was odd. Illness never was a problem for him unless he encountered religious symbols or holy water.
Wait. He tried to adjust his eyesight to the darkness and thought he could make out at least one cross on the wall. He tried to muster the strength to get closer but it was as if his body were glued to the floor. Lucius had never felt this bad before. Managing to lift his hand, he tried to direct his powers to the single cross and flip it for relief. It seemed to wiggle for a moment due to the sound he heard but there was no relief in symptoms and it definitely had not flipped over.
He retreated his hand and it dropped to the floor as if someone slammed it down. He let out a pained gasp as he struggled in place, flat on the floor just trying to breath.
Crawling very slowly was doable but excruciating. Inching closer to the wall, he felt what felt like another body. Pausing for a moment, he reached forward to nudge it, to see if any life was left in it.
It felt warm. That was either a really good or bad sign depending on who this person was. Lucius' senses were at a bare minimum as he weakly asked,
"Are you alive?"
