Headcanon: What's in a Name
One of the more unusual things about Dust is, of course, her name. At this point, she’s rather used to raised brows upon introducing herself as such. It remains the only name she’ll use - however, it isn’t her given name.
Very, very few people know that her first name is Gabriel, meaning ‘Stendarr is my might.’ She cast off the name and adopted the surname of her late father in memory of him and rebellion against her family and stepfather. She feels it suits her better, and so has introduced herself this way ever since she was a girl.
While her first name will still catch her attention, it will be swiftly followed by her wrath. To use it is to dredge up painful memories, ones she refuses to be associated with. Besides, for she who tried to destroy the Vigilants of Stendarr to be named so is too sickening for her to stomach.
