I was shocked to learn about this 1000 year old tree in Leicestershire. Supposedly where Robin Hood lived. Anyway a 3’ gash was caused by vandals in its trunk. It’s thought that they climbed over the protection fence then onto the tree. While climbing trees there it one thing I will not do no matter how climbable a tree is;if a tree has a preservation order on it I always respect the law. I actually while climbing any tree will not if I can help it even break a branch. I feel so sad when people go out of their way to harm what cannot be replaced. Some trees will be on the endangered species list. Ones like this will be included.
