Great to see the old tollbooth tower (now part of the church) looking so good after restoration work. Even the weather vane has been regilded. I love it but whenever I walk past I can't help thinking of the so-called witches who were tortured there, a horrific episode in Scottish history around 1705 and thankfully the last episode of witch hunting in Fife. The ripples of the cruelty dealt to the women and men named as witches can still be felt today but it needn't go any further.
