Tarot Reading: What is it?

Hello and welcome to my very first post on this blog. I have never done a blog on this topic before, but I’m really excited to start and I can’t wait to see where this blog goes down the road!

First off, I should say that I’m 23 years old and I’ve been into psychic stuff for only a few years now. Probably since I was twenty, maybe even earlier. But, I have been into the paranormal a lot longer. This doesn’t mean that I don’t have any knowledge on this subject. Of course, I’m still learning about this subject, and I hope you can learn along with me! Now, let’s get into what this post is really about!

Tarot cards, what is it? To put it simply, tarot cards are a bunch of cards with angel like pictures that tell you the answer to your question. Now, it takes special kinds of people to read tarot cards. Usually, psychics are ones that read tarot cards due to the fact that they can read people’s energies and get a sense of a situation. But, this doesn’t mean that with practice, you can’t become a tarot reader either.

If you wanna become a tarot card reader and never seen or touched them, my suggestion would be to get a tarot reading done first. That way, you can get a feel of how tarot readings are done and what rules you should follow.

It’s easy to find a tarot reader. You can either find tarot readers online or in your area. Prices usually differ, depending on the reader you get. But usually for one question, most readers will ask for maybe $30 to $80, $30 being the lowest. If you’re looking for a bundle, like a “love life reading” for example, that can cost around $80 to $100 or more, but that’s only because bundle readings take longer. It is also good to note that costs can vary if you’re calling, chatting online, having a video done of it, or having it done in person. But, tarot readers will ask around $30 to $100, depending on what reading services you want. So, when looking for a tarot reader, be sure that their reviews are good. You don’t want a tarot reader that’s bogus and is just trying to take your money. But nonetheless, it’s pretty easy to find a tarot reader.

Now, if you’ve already begun to play around with tarot cards, here are some important things to note:

You MUST meditate ALL your chakras before you start doing your reading. (I’ll post up information about chakras soon).

Envision yourself in a white light the WHOLE time before and during your reading. This is going to help block negative energy from coming through.

Right before you do your reading, place all the stacked cards on your head OR your heart. Then ask the angels for guidance through the reading and ask them to give you the answers that you seek. This can also help block out negative energy.

It is also important to note that meditating constantly can also help you keep your ability to read tarot cards AND improve your tarot card reading.

Tarot cards first came about in the year of 1375 in Europe. They were brought over from Islamic countries where they were used before 1375. But, the cards that were used in Islamic countries were NOT tarot cards. At this time, there’s no evidence that tarot cards were created yet, which goes against lots of claims that ordinary playing cards evolved from the tarot deck.

It’s not until 1440 that the cards that were the origin of Tarot cards, were first mentioned. The Duke of Milan stated in a letter that he requested for several decks of “triumph” cards to be used at a special event. The letter differentiated triumph cards from regular “playing” cards. However, it seems that the first tarot decks were created as a game. There were four suits with cards numbered one through ten, and also court cards that included a queen, king, knight and page. The deck had also included twenty-two symbolic picture cards that didn’t belong to any suit. The decks were used to play a game called triumph that’s similar to bridge. In the game (triumph), twenty-one of the twenty-two special picture cards were permanent trump cards. The game spread quickly to every part of Europe. People began calling it tarocchi, which is the Italian version of the French word Tarot, around 1530.

In the year of 1781, in both England and France, followers of the occult discovered Tarot cards. They saw the symbolic pictures as having more meaning than the simple trump cards that they were used for at the time. They used the cards as a division tool, and occult writers wrote about “the Tarot”. After this, the Tarot became a part of occult philosophy.

There are also people that believe that Tarot cards originated from Egypt. In some circles, they are thought to be the sole surviving “book” from the great fire that burned the libraries of ancient Egypt. In this theory, the cards are considered to be to be the hieroglyphical keys to life.

You can usually find tarot cards in stores. Book stores may carry them for $20 or a bit more. I have the Angel Tarot deck by Jayne Wallace. It comes with a full deck of 78 cards and a 64 page illustrated book with easy to read descriptions for each card. I highly recommend this deck if you’re just starting to learn how to do tarot readings. I’ll show you guys the deck in another post that’s coming soon.

The History of The Tarot

Nobody really knows where the tarot originated: as with many mysteries, historians, writers and practising occultists invented various historical roots coloured by their own personal views.

It’s known that decks of mystical numbered cards existed in India and the Far East in ancient times. There have also been suggestions that travelling gypsies from the Far East brought the tarot to Europe during the Middle Age.

The 18th century French linguist cleric, occultist and freemason Antoine Coutr de Gebelin was convinced of the mystical significance of the tarot. He claimed that the 22 Major Arcana was an Ancient Egyptian book, or a set of tablets of mystical wisdom, remnants perhaps of the Book of Thoth. Gabelin believed these mysterious tablets were brought to Europe by travelling magi or priests who followed the ancient Persians.
