Whatever Caradoc had expected from the Kings’ house, this wasn’t it.
It wasn’t that he had imagined anything in particular, but that, he realized now, he hadn’t imagined anything at all. Robert existing outside of the Wizarding world, outside of the many moments they had shared together in the past several months, wasn’t a concept Caradoc liked, much less had given any thought to.
But they were both far outside of the Wizarding world now, and neither in a place they wanted to be.
As he stood staring at Robert’s childhood home, Caradoc was glad Gideon had agreed to trade duties with him on Tuesday---especially as he heard Doug McKinnon approaching behind him. He didn’t spare the other wizard so much as a glance.
“So this is the place?”
