TOMORROW: As part of our summer walking series, HI typ/O will present a procession and public tour of artists' works through Jackson Park on the afternoon of Saturday, August 22. The program, titled Tramps of Our Flora, will aim to excavate the area’s history—its glacial past and pre-industrial swamp beginnings, its pioneer inhabitants, its transition into the White City stomping grounds of the 1893 World’s Fair, and its designation as a nature sanctuary with birds and Japanese flora as well as its present restoration and future as an Ono Pavilion or an Obama library. The walk will depart at 1PM from the Columbia Basin on the south side of the Museum of Science and Industry (5700 S Lake Shore Drive) and will last approximately 2 hours. Participants will travel through the park, stopping at designated sites along the route to enjoy live, multidisciplinary performances, readings, and visual pieces by the following artists:
