send “…didn’t know where else to go…” for your muse to show up at my muses doorstep one night during a thunderstorm, shivering, bleeding & soaking wet.
:・゚❤️┇ It’s always on rainy nights, isn’t it — those hot Nevada nights where the sky is darker than dark, inky black without a star in sight — pitter patter, heavy fat drops falling onto the desert. And then lightning, fat shards of light cloying the underbelly of ultramarine clouds: rolling boom like atom bombs whenever they reached the ground. So when the knock came, it was like a faint rasp, a mouse tapping the door frame beneath the constant roar. Twice and a third time, and finally Cassie caught on from the unusual noise that someone was at the door. Electricity had gone, the transformer at the base of the street gone in a rain of sparks twenty some minutes prior, so she was left with a flashlight to roam her apartment.
Another time, more frantic — the chain is pulled, locks unbolted — if anything, Cassie can take care of her own if a threat decided to be ominous in the storm — except she’s stunned to find the blind woman at her doorstep, all that rainwater at her feet, and blood like black syrup in the dark dribbling along.
❝Eris?❞ How long had it been? ❝Holy shit, Eris!❞ The woman had vanished after the Black Dragon raid months ago. No matter how much Cassandra ought to contact her, she never got a hold of her, slipping through her fingers as the water cascading down Eris’ hair. Rumors were she’d gone rogue — rumors had it Kronika had tempted her — rumors had it that —
—— fuck the rumors! Cassie steps into the hallway, gripping onto the soldier’s shoulders to guide her inside. ❝You look like shit — ❞, she comments, not unkindly, no, but worried, so worried, and — ❝what happened? Where have you been?❞ To hell with the carpet, that can be replaced, leading her deeper into the apartment, into the dark, the flashlight hanging from her pocket like a beacon. Sits her on a chair, both hands still tight upon the woman’s shoulders. ❝Stay there, I’ll get a towel and some alcohol. Gimme just half a second, okay?❞
