Just because I look Chinese, doesn't mean I can read Chinese.
Was at a sushi place with 3 other European colleagues and the manager took out a piece of order sheet that was in Chinese and required us to fill up our orders with it.
I told the guy that I couldn’t read it and would need his help to take orders and he gave me an incredulous look. I patiently explained to him that I am not a local, even though I can speak the language, I have difficulties reading it. To my horror, he refused to take our orders!
It was only until I insisted that I will start speaking to him in English if he doesn’t take our orders that he reluctantly started asking for our orders. The worse thing was after that he even had the cheek to ask me whether am I not afraid that he will contaminate the food because of what I said.
The service at this restaurant is totally terrible and I will never come back here again.
