I was explaining the quasi-current fujoshi thing to my partner, particularly points about "bad" women interacting with yaoi versus the "acceptable" transmasc gays and the fact that without invasive personal details, the one group is indistinguishable from the other.

Then it got me thinking back to my childhood, and the seemingly endless jokes about men fantasizing about lesbians (because men are disgusting sex fiends lul, so funny). The situation should be the same, right? Since it's neatly inverted. There is a choice between accepting the wrong people will interact with it, or removing everyone's ability to interact with it.

This whole train of thought came about after seeing a 'battle axe lesbian' talking about being sick when "straight girls kiss for men and fetishize wlw relationships". If they're aroused by women being with women.... wouldn't that make them some flavour of gay?

If they're gay about wlw, then why shouldn't they interact with that content? Which is more important, keeping out bad faith interactions or being sure that they're "really" lesbian/pan/bi/into women?

I scared the crap out of a little girl at the pool the other day and it was both funny and sad.

I was showering naked after getting done swimming, and squeezing some of the chlorine water out of my swimsuit and hair. She walked in and saw me from the door and was back out of it within 5 seconds. I was pretty much finished up, and curious if she’d come back, so I shuffled back to the nearest benches and started getting dressed.

I have very good hearing, so I could hear a male voice outside the entrance to the women’s locker room saying “Yeah, sweetie.” There was a pause and then he said “You’re gonna have to get used to it eventually.” I waited for a bit but she never came in. I’m guessing she ended up using the family changing room in the front.

It’s funny that she ran off like that, not least of all because she was like 11-12, which means that high school and gym is coming up pretty soon. LOTS of naked bodies in there (although I don’t know how stuff has changed). But it was also sad that nudity was so scary it wasn’t confrontable.

And after all of that, what do you do? Nudity is something that you should become familiar with for at least situations like this. Doctor stuff, school gym, pap smear. At the same time, it’s important that she feel comfortable and safe, especially when confronting a new and terrifying subject. The goal is to not be scared of nudity so much you run away. If you’re uncomfortable already and forced further into the situation, that is *not* going to do anything to accomplish the goal.

But life doesn’t really wait for safe and comfy, and being unprepared to deal with *that* fact can be even more dangerous. So, it’s a difficult question =/
