Best Friend by Berang Berang Via Flickr: My HO scale model of the 1830 locomotive Best Friend, built by the West Point Foundry of New York for the South Carolina Canal & Rail Road Co. This was the first locomotive to go into actual service in America. I scaled the model from the original plans for the locomotive, and 3D printed it. It is now available on Shapeways.

Saturday Movie Night: Creating Classic Layouts - Moving Mountains (1992)

In 1992, the team behind last week's Creating A Model Railway produced a pair of sequels exploring the further steps budding modellers could take to improve their modelling skills. Whereas the first volume stuck primarily with British practice, this second volume sees us going continental, with three layouts set in mainland Europe:
