Ooh Ok, well that kinda sucks, I thought they meant like a minor supporting character we’ve seen before. Still, the reason I’m really not pissed is that they didn’t try getting credit or giving themselves points for it like JK Rowling or Beauty and the Beast live action, nobody mentioned this until release. Also, because its a huge film millions will see, having a quick line about that isn’t played for jokes and is taken seriously is a pretty cool step into mainstream Hollywood inclusion. I guess what I’m saying is, this isn’t something to write home about but how could people possibly be so angry about this if they weren’t promised it in the first place? I want rep as much as anyone but they never promised it nor did we ever expect any of it in the MCU of all places.

You can’t tell me modern Bilbo wouldn’t be passive aggressive in his efforts to get Thorin to admit he loves him. He’d have six versions of this with corny sayings hanging throughout Bag End, and constantly remark to Thorin “oh did you see the new wall decorations? They’re acorns, just like I love. What do you love, Thorin? Hmm??”
