do you plan to write more smut for angelreid? (my smut loving heart had to ask hahaha) also do you think he’s more submissive or dominant? not just in the fic but in general how do you view spence and is he more vanilla and submissive or dominant or maybe a switch? in my mind he’s a sub but also i kinda don’t care and read fics about him being a soft dom too because i don’t think he’d be harsh and also he might not care much about dynamics idk if that makes sense
BREAKING: MARCIDSTARS IS A SUB SPENCER TRUTHER
HOWEVER! i also love soft dom spence 🥴
regarding spencer in house of cards, specifically…he’s definitely more submissive leaning, but this is in part due angel and her preferences. he plays to her desires, mostly, and will do pretty much anything she wants. there are occasions, however, where he may switch their dynamic of his own accord, usually if/when she pisses him off 😭
spencer in general i also think is on the sub side; it’s hard for me to imagine him in any superr dominant position — and especially not, like, a harsh dom. there are scenarios in which i can see him being meaner/more dominant (post-prison, sometimes?) but they are few and far between. the only real instance of this that i have written/plan on writing is in my unsub!reader series, but there’s a boat load of reasons as to why spencer acts the way he does there, and even then he’s still submissive, like, 50% of the time.
i do think he could play both roles quite well, but in my mind he’s mostly a sub. and ultimately i think he would likely prioritise his partner’s wants and do his best to play into them, whatever they may be — so i suppose i’m with you on the whole ‘not really caring about dynamics’ thing.
and as for future angelreid smut: yes. there will be more.
Does luna wants to have a sibling, like a little sister or a brother yknow, or she wants to be the only favorite child to her parents 🤣?, it will be nice to see Luna taking care of her little sister 🥰🥰😍
Hmm, a very good question 🤔 I've designed a second fankid for fun, but to be honest in the context of the Heart of Courage universe:
No, Luna doesn't. I think she fears the idea that a sibling would be born less broken than her. They would have powers, or be more capable, or take over her parents attention. I think in a very selfish and honestly angry way, Luna doesn't want to feel more inferior than she already does.
Or less worthy of love, maybe.
Conversely, I've always thought Glimmer and Adora DID want more kids. But after failing Luna from the second she was born, they also had a debilitating fear of messing up another kid.
I think the guilt runs pretty deep for both of them, especially after watching Luna fall into such a dark and bitter place over being powerless as she got older.
did u ever consider killing off angel or was her happy ending always planned
angel’s ending is pretty much the only thing that hasn’t changed over the course of me writing hoc — scott’s ending never changed, either. i’ve never considered killing her off, i don’t have the heart, and i feel it would be doing her character a disservice. me choosing to kill her off would, in my opinion, essentially be the same thing as what the duffer brothers did with eleven in the stranger things finale. i don’t think it’s fair to put a character through so much just to kill them off at the end of the story and deprive them of any real chance at happiness — and i think it’s even worse to try and frame their death as the ‘only way’ they could ever be happy.
angel is, and always has been, intended to get her happy ending. she’ll struggle like hell to get there, but she will get there. i couldn’t write her story any other way <3
ok so is scott just some manipulative asshole or does he fr care about angel ?? like with hoc 18 & 19 im so confused on the dynamic
that’s the million dollar question!
angel's perception of scott definitely is not the most reliable — i.e. part of her still sees him as her saviour and cares about him, genuinely. (hotch calls it stockholm syndrome, angel begs to differ) she has a lot of feelings that she cannot, or will not, process right now, and it is probably (definitely) influencing what she thinks and how she sees scott.
as for the man himself, he's...an interesting case! he was very much both a manipulative asshole and someone who did genuinely care about angel. he had love for her, and that was why their relationship worked. now, obviously, their dynamic wasn't healthy, and scott was an absolute wrongun for getting her involved in the cc, regardless of whether it was something that she 'wanted' or not — that's just a fact.
more yapping under the cut...
scott had it in his head that was he was doing was good, and that he was ultimately helping angel by getting her away from her mother. he fixated on this idea of being a 'hero,' of saving angel and becoming the kind of figure in her life that he himself had desperately needed as a child.
he saw a great deal of himself in angel, too, and this is what allowed him to empathise with her as much as he did. he projected onto her, heavily, and he felt obligated to protect her as a result. scott apparently lived in a world where 'protect' somehow meant kidnapping her and indoctrinating her into his gang. it is very likely that, had it not been so easy for him to project onto her, then angel never would have gotten involved in the cc at all.
i think, if you were to ask him, he would wholeheartedly say that he cared about angel — that he loved her, and that he always had. he'd believe it, too. so i suppose it ultimately comes down to the question of how much of this 'love' was genuine, and how much of it came from a place of selfishness. did he really care for her the way he claimed to, or was he just projecting? that's for the readers, and angel, to decide for themselves as the fic continues.
but additionally: does it matter? does the authenticity of scotts feelings even mean anything, considering all the harm he caused?
angel could have lived a normal life, if she hadn't met him. that's not to say that she wouldn't have gotten herself into trouble on her own, but she could have had a chance. scott, in introducing her to the cc, stripped her of that chance, and there is no way he didn't understand that.
the facts are that scott abducted a vulnerable child whom he barely knew and pushed her into a life of crime, and he did it knowingly. he ruined her life, and for what? so he could play at being a saviour? or god forbid a father? he wasn't acting out of selflessness; he would have taken her someplace safe, if he were. but that's not what happened.
She wanted an escape, a permanent one, from that shitty house and that shitty neighbourhood and her piss-poor excuse for a mother, and what she saw in Scott was an opportunity to do just that. He was her ticket out, and she told him such.
angel is obsessed with the idea of her own autonomy. she makes a point, always, to clarify that her choices are hers, and no one else's, and she does this when recounting how she came to be in the cc — even if the only person she's in conversation with is herself.
but what she fails to mention, or perhaps even realise, is that scott saw the exact same opportunity in her as she saw in him. angel wanted a family, people she could depend on, and scott wanted to be depended on. what he saw in angel, whether he was conscious of it or not, was a chance to stroke his own ego, to make himself feel good by doing 'good.'
'I can't, in good faith, abandon—'
'In good faith? You abducted her. You must be out of your mind if you think that I would ever allow you to house that girl. I'm giving you an opportunity to fix this, Scott, before someone reports her as missing.'
but he wasn't a hero, and he sure as hell wasn't doing angel any good. even when presented with the opportunity to make it right, he refused to — because it wouldn't have fitted his narrative. simply doing the right thing wasn't enough for him; he needed to be the right thing.
he needed angel to depend on him.
he needed to be the one to take care of her.
he was selfish, undoubtedly so. and i'm taking hotch's side when i say that the result of this selfishness — angel's life being irreparably ruined; mitch being exploited; the people who have died because of him, including himself; and lilly and joshua's side of things, which i haven't even gotten to touch on yet — negates any genuine care he may have had, or thought he had, for angel.
scott's feelings, and whether or not they were real, will continue to be a topic of discussion in house of cards. he will, unfortunately, continue to haunt angel's narrative for as long as she has to live with the consequences of his actions.
i'm sorry for yapping so much about this, i wasn't intending to at all T-T but i do hope this gives a little more insight into scott's character. i try to ensure there aren't any staunchly good or bad characters in house of cards; the face cards of the cohors cordium are probably the most objectively 'bad' characters — excluding angel's bellend father, but we're not there yet — though i still try to portray them with as much nuance and humanity as i can, because i think it's fun.
sooo… the next hoc chapter is gonna be smut, right? right? 👀 bc if so I’M SO EXCITED AHHH (ik she’s injured but some stuff wouldn’t hurt lmaoo if i were her i’d jump him even tho i’m avoidant, independent and not showing emotions much too)
there won’t be any smut next chapter I’M SORRY 😭😭 i feel like i’m starving you but there’s no time for angelreid to freak their shit rn 💔
tbf i need to write a bonus part because spencer’s birthday falls between c20 and 21 so you might get some smut one day…
