SO THIS HAPPENED

So someone said I look weird in group conversations. Cause my eyes dart back and forth from face to face, even when no one is speaking.

My response:

*takes out and shows hearing aid*

*watch their expression morph into one of horror*

*cackles like the evil person I am*

Should you see a person throw themselves into the Deaf community, especially if they’re HOH, don’t say anything. Seriously. I’m tired of seeing people spouting bullshit to HOH/deaf people. A lot of people never had the right words to express their experiences, and finally finding others who have shared experiences with you can be life changing. Be happy for them that they’ve finally found a place for themselves.

I cant tell if the sounds im hearing are the snow/ice hitting my window or my hamsters running.

I am going deaf late in life that doesn’t mean I’m not deaf just like you doesn’t mean I don’t get things mouthed can u understand me is my favorite or doesn’t mean I want to smack people when they covered there mouths and I have to say what fifty times doesn’t mean I have to compensate for everybody I’m hard of hearing not completely deaf I’m on my way there though just because I have been hearing most of my life the only thing that gives me is speech but even that’s always been spotty u know what you’ve always been deaf you grew up that way I get it but just because u don’t know any different doesn’t mean I’m not in culture shock and. Suddenly I have to make all these adjustments to my life so fuck u if u think we aren’t the same we don’t struggle through the same things ur a custom to it I’m not
