                   birthdate unknown. ontari ( no last name ) was born on a small island, mother a small merchant, and father a known pirate currently fleeing the british fleet. before much else had happened the british navy had captured her father and thus caused her mother to fall into a steep depression. as that came to a close it became blatantly obviously that taking care of a small child was not going to be something that her mother would be able to cope with. before the child could begin to walk she was left at the steps of one of the local brothels by the seashore with the hope that the babe would appeal to the women’s maternal instinct and be brought up and raised instead of dying of starvation as she would most likely do under the care of her own mother.                               the plan worked. and the child's cries were heard and she was brought into the brothel and accepted by the women in it. early childhood was spent being nourished by the women and as soon as the child was old enough to do chores she was quickly set to work, cleaning tables and making beds after customers had left int he morning. helping with breakfast & lunch for the women and generally earning her keep.

the child ( while grateful for the work ) was one that was constantly curious, and generally described as agile and quick witted. she figured things out rather quickly. smart, and with large brown eyes and a pretty face to top it off, despite the fact she was a child she was already receiving comments about her beauty. and how valuable she would become for the brothel once she’d reached an age where she could begin to work as one of the women. an auction had already begun to see who would get the honor of deflowering the child when her life was pulled from under her.                           it was a little while later after the auctioning had begun that she was introduced to piracy, some years had then passed when a man arrived with his crew at the brothel, having spotted the child behind a counter he was taken with her, ontari remembers the event vaguely, as a heroic roan winters pirate king took her in his arms and rescued her from a life of living in the brothel.

she was thus raised for the majority of her life under the watchful eye of roan - the child quickly taking his name as her own and that wasn’t all. being raised and groomed into his second in command it seemed almost instantly that she was made for this role. she picked up on things quickly, learned at an alarmingly fast rate, and had a sense of leadership and royalty about her that caused those around her to respect her despite her young age. she’s even more ruthless than her captain, but that’s supposedly to be expected. she’s skilled with all kinds of weaponry, seduction and strategy. and would lay down her life, for any member of her crew. her nickname as ice princess comes from how she was raised, how she dresses, and how she treats enemies when they come across her. she’s been since captured by the british navy once, and managed to escape and return to roan’s side.

BIOGRAPHY

Amida Etienne is the 25-year-old bastard daughter of a free man and a French governor’s daughter. Believing his daughter’s pregnancy to be a sign of the devil, her father ordered the execution of Kofi Etienne and the abortion of the hellspawn growing in his daughter’s belly. As soon as the order became Cap-Français’s newest gossip, Kofi and his lover Victoire Desjardins were forced into hiding underground. Shortly after their daughter was born, Amida was sent away in order to protect her life, and though it pained Kofi and Victoire to do it, Amida was their first priority. Days after they said their final goodbyes to their daughter, a spy had tipped the governor off to their location, but only Kofi got away. For Victoire’s crimes, she was hanged in the town square, more as a lesson than anything.

Escaping from Saint-Domingue was not easy, but the idea of seeing his daughter again kept him alive. Joining a pirate crew wasn’t what he had intended to do, but it earned him some money and made his time until seeing Amida again easier. It took him five years to find his daughter; she was on the island of New Providence, being raised by a pub owner in Nassau. Getting her back was hard, but the pub owner had told her stories of her father, and she was thrilled to meet him.

After that, she began sailing with him, under his own crew. The daughter of Killer Kofi was off limits to all, especially the members of his crew, and they all learned to respect their captain’s daughter in time. By the age of fifteen Amida was a skilled swordsman and a good shot with a pistol. Her cunning nature is what kept her alive after the mutiny on the ship. While docked in Cap-Français, a member of the crew ratted out her father and had him hanged, though he spared Amida’s life. After watching her father’s body hanging from the rope, Amida and other members of the crew formed a plan.

While out on the water, where no one could see them, Amida drove her cutlass through the throat of the man that got her father killed, a vicious smile on her face as she did so. The man was then thrown overboard, left to drown in Davy Jones’ locker for the crimes he had committed against the crew. At seventeen, while docked in Nassau, she left the crew and began to live there for awhile, until joining Captain Tria’s crew while she and the Rockline fleet were docked in Nassau.

About The Gilded Orchid It is a bright and airy venue, located on the edge of town, overlooking the sea. It's location means it's not the first stop that disembarking crews make, but returning customers often will walk the extra distance for the comforts that await their effort. Some of the most beautiful creatures reside within to provide the patrons with their earthly comforts, as fair wages and tight security ensure their own comfort and safety. Indeed, both women and men - and a few whose gender is difficult to discern - are available to keep the patrons company when they've had their fill of the drink, food and revelry of the tavern on the main floor. All that Madam Zo asks is that you treat her staff and property with the same respect that you, yourself desire be treated with.

Darcy Deucalion is the only twenty-one year old daughter of Commodore Nathaniel Deucalion,   the navy officer in charge of liaising with the governors of Nassau’s Republic of Pirates.    She grew up in a household without a mother after her mother died giving birth to her,   and as such,   she sailed on many calmer voyages on her father’s Man of War,   surrounded by a crew that welcomed her.   The blonde quickly grew to love the sea,   astounded by its beauty,   and when she wasn’t at home she was being taught everything a lady should need to know how to run a household – including reading and writing,   which was somewhat rare for a woman at the time.

Her love of the sea prompted her to press her father of the tales he’d bring back from his voyages,   tales of pirates and sea monsters and various dangers a lady should never worry about,   but all of it fascinated her.  Eventually,   her father grew so tired of her hounding him for new tales that he bought her a book full of them,   something which they kept between themselves and certainly didn’t share with her governess.    She grew into a defiant and strong young woman who stood out from most others,   and her father often said she was very much like her mother,   and as such he has a soft spot for her.    But her intelligence often made the men she courted feel inferior,   and it became increasingly difficult for her father to find her a match.

When her father suggested that he should take her to the Bahamas to find a husband there,   Darcy wasn’t sure that he was being serious.   But with her father calling the shots on his own ship and her fascination with the sea,   it was only a matter of time before Darcy was given her own quarters on the ship,   and when she stepped foot on Kingston soil it was like something out of the stories she used to read.   Except this was her real life now,   and it wasn’t too long before she began to immerse herself in the culture of her new home  ---  a little too much,   some would say.

By the time she’s taken to Nassau to meet her future husband,   she’s already ventured into Kingston’s town multiple times dressed as a man;   her father barely notices the absence of his lesser quality clothes.   Her interest in the life she currently lives is waning,   and for Darcy,   it’s time for her to look towards a larger goal in life;   something where she can be anyone and have the same opportunities that any man can.   Marriage is out of the question for her,   and while she may play along,    she intends to get out of it as soon as possible  ---  for her own goals,   but also to ensure her father’s safety.   Darcy is sure that her father is underestimating the pirates’ strength,   and she seeks to secure a treaty between the two to ensure her father’s safety  ---  and her position on a crew.

While she may not be aiming for the title of Magistrate,   and she may not have too much trust in a pirate’s honour,   she  (  perhaps foolishly  )  trusts that they will at least have common sense.   She has yet to see whether this proves to be true.
