The only cultural preparation I did before coming to India was watching the first (and only) season of 'Outsourced' a couple of times. As a result, I was somewhat familiar with Holi up on my arrival. Definitely wasn't prepared for what went down today though.

It's not celebrated widely here in the south but we got into the spirit at work today. It starts off slow with people simply rubbing colored powder on the faces of others and quickly devolves into an all-out mosh pit with eggs, water, and plenty of hide and seek.

Well worth the $100 shirt I ruined today...guess that's my fault. Here are some pictures from the day (some of them are upside down b/c technology is hard)!

The Many Colors of Holi

Holi is celebrated in commemoration of Spring's arrival, on the first full moon of March. It's certainly on my bucket list for travel, and the following photo, from Reuters Adnan Abidi, is a small glimpse of why:
