Remember to write and share your holiday wishlist here on tumblr! It's an unofficial annual even that happens ever December.

You write up a list with no more than 10 wishes, at least three of them mustn't cost more than time (like wishing for comments on artwork), and a link to an online shopping list for folks to buy you things without you handing out your mailing address.

Make sure to share your list , and use a bulleted or numbered setting for the wishlist to make it easier to read. Then, in December, post it here. You can schedule the posting! I have mine written up and it will appear here on December 1st, complete with links.

Updating my Amazon List for family

And I realized that it’s something we don’t do anymore in fandom and that kind of bummed me out. Or at least, I’m not seeing it as much. 

Not an amazon list, though if that is what you want to do feel free, but a Fandom Holiday List. I used to make random requests for fandoms and prompts, sometimes I would just ask for a pairing to get more love. OR like, tropes. Or maybe requests for love? Or prompts? I don’t even know. It was always just fun finding random lists and fulfilling one or two our of nowhere. I used to do it anonymously just for funsies. 

Anyone remember that?

Home for the Holidays - Our Favorite Movies

The holidays mean a lot of things to a lot of people. For us, it's all about the time together, just hanging out. The time before or after a big meal, the time when you are sick of football but still unable to move, and the time when you are not going out to see your entire high school at one bar.

These moments are perfect for one thing: holiday movies. While some are actually holiday themed, this is also a great time to watch the movie you meant to see for the last 8 months. Herewith, from the obvious to the obscure, our holiday movie picks. 

The ones with Sean Connery are obviously the best. You have to laugh, you have to be okay with scenes shifting from day to night in a single shot, and you have to remember that for James Bond, all cars can drive underwater. Our picks: Diamonds Are Forever, From Russia with Love and Dr. No. A James Bond marathon is always okay, too. 

Braveheart

Braveheart. Come on. Nothing says family, tradition and fine horsemanship quite like the last truly awesome movie we saw from Mel. William Wallace knows how to get your whole crew quiet and in front of the TV for at least a couple of hours and there really is something for everyone: love, gore, voracious turkey leg eating. 

Game of Thrones

So this isn't a movie, but whatever. If you haven’t watched Game of Thrones, get ready and go all in. This excellent HBO series took us some time to get through and gave us the occasional moment of pause but overall it's amazing. From the giant lady knight to the midget prince to the super lovable (and slightly less lovable) family politics at play throughout, this show is completely addictive and about to be your new best friend. No but really. 

The Newsroom

Okay, also not a movie, but still one of the best series. Although, if you were a West Wing fan, don't even try it. For everyone else, it's quite entertaining though factually slightly off now and again (come on people, it's a TV show about a newsroom, not a newsroom, and Mac wears great shoes).

Homeland

Once again not a movie. BUT STILL. Homeland. Before this, we only really associated Claire Danes with My So Called Life (which you should probably also revisit this holiday season). Sadly, there is no more Jordan Catalano, but there is now SERGEANT BRODY. This show is relevant, interesting and worth seeing if you haven’t checked it out already.

 Love Actually

See, we can (actually) get into the holiday spirit around here! This is one of those movies that we know all the lines to but aren't totally sure how or why. Heartwarming, somewhat inspirational and Hugh Grant. Also, please see this excellent turtleneck retrospective. 

 Home Alone

Home Alone has to be one of the greatest movies of all time and makes this list both because of that and the fact its actually a Christmas movie. You probably remember very specific parts of this movie: the tarantula, the frozen basement stairs, Kevin’s fake Christmas party, two grocery bags dropping all over the ground, the frightening mom scream when she realizes they forgot him (we really could go on and on and on). Don't think about the Macaulay Caulkin of today—just go back to when he was the cutest ever.'

Wall-E 

Disney Pixar is basically a representation of our hearts, and Wall-E is no exception. This animated movie for grownups is perfect—there is nothing more to be said. It's just perfect. 

Blizzard of Aahhh's

No matter how much you love or don't love skiing, you can probably get excited about skiing while sitting on your couch watching the best and most entertaining ski movie of all time. Of all time. Our experts (and Aspen, CO residents) tell us this is the definitive documentary—dare we say rockumentary?—of skidom. We will take it.
