‘Twas Your Night Before Christmas!
‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, WHEN ALL THROUGH HIS HOUSE... Your man he was clicking - yes, him with his mouse.
The stockings were hung by your chimney with care, In hopes that his commitment soon would be there;
Your inner-child was nestled all snug in her bed; While dreams of destination-weddings danced in your head; But mamma putting pressure, and Dad laying-back, Hasn’t help you to see your guy's nothing but a sap.
When out of your dream there arose a new thought, You spring from deep sleep with “I’ve been an idiot!”
Away with this man, you knew in a flash You open a new chapter – the old-you out with the trash!
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow, Shed a bright light on all that you know!
That you deserve commitment and that should appear, In a man who is ready and willing this year!
With a little maneuver so lively and quick, You knew in a moment this must be the trick!
More rapid than eagles your courage, it came, You ousted all old Consumers - you called them by name:
"No more, Dillons no David’s! no Peter’s or Vinney! Forget Charlie! No Conrads! “I’m finally winning!” To the top of your lungs you declared to your wall Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!"
Your new year’s resolution into your giving heart it flew No more toys who are just boys – “oh, yeah, that guy Nicholas too!”
And then, in a twinkling, you heard a rap at your door. He had put down the clicker and come over to score.
But you mustered the strength to turn things around, You answered the door while standing your ground.
He was dressed oh so handsome, from his head to his foot, But you knew “Now or Never” to give him the boot; His eyes—how they twinkled! His dimples, how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his lips like a cherry! His cute little smile was drawn up like a bow, But the new-year-new you, knew he had to go!
He had a sad face when you uttered, “no more of this, sorry” He laughed, when he kissed you, “Come on, I know you, my dollie.”
No more laughing when he realized, in spite of himself; This time it was different, you were no more his elf.
In that moment you knew you had nothing to dread; He spoke not a word, but his face it went red. He knew you were right, and his head it went down Your gift to yourself – you were no more the clown.
You filled up with sweet tears as he turned with a jerk, But a sigh of relief, as now you could work... On giving to yourself, as much as you give To a man who will commit, for as long as you live.
While giving a nod to your strength, as you turn back the sheet You sleep soundly knowing deeply the men you will meet In 2019 who will be Buyers for sure No more nights with a Consumer appearing at your door!
You awaken in the morning a new you in plain sight Happy Christmas to you, you’re setting your romantic life right!
