Dr. Philip Memoli - Affordable Root Canal Alternative Treatment in NJ/NYC – Holistic Dentistry NJ
A root canal-treated (RCT) or root-filled tooth is one in which the dental nerve, commonly called the pulp, is intentionally removed and is filled with an inert material called gutta percha. Once an RCT is performed, the tooth must be restored with a post and a crown. These will strengthen the tooth and prevent a crack or fracture from developing after treatment.
Does tooth pain indicate i need a root canal?
A dentist first will tap on several teeth and look for signs of an abscess or a radiograph. A tooth with constant or severe pain does not necessarily indicate the need for a root canal.
How is a root canal properly diagnosed?
A root canal is a treatment, not a diagnosis. Good dentistry, like good medicine, starts with a proper diagnosis of the tooth.
Some dentists argue that a diagnosis is academic and a waste of a patient’s time. The result is always the same, they say, a root canal. However, establishing a true diagnosis of tooth pain may avert an unnecessary root canal of an otherwise healthy tooth.
What are my options once a root canal is inevitable?
It’s important to understand that all teeth problems are unique. No treatment is universal. Individual circumstances may dictate that a specific treatment is not an option. Or perhaps one option will offer a superior result over another.
Root canal infections also have close access to blood circulation and systemic dissemination. One study, performed during root canal therapy, isolated bacteria from the blood stream of patients. That leaves us with a basic question which has yet to be thoroughly investigated.

Emergency Mercury Detoxification Removal Treatment | Holistic Dentistry NJ – Dr. Philip Memoli
Mercury, the only metallic element that is a liquid under standard temperature and pressure conditions, is widely utilized in many industries and processes. It has been used as a component of dental amalgam since ancient times and is found in fluorescent tubes and thermometers.
Mercury toxicity symptoms are many; mercury poisoning takes a heavy toll on the body, affecting the neurological and central nervous systems, as well as the gastrointestinal, immune, neuromuscular, and cardiovascular systems.
A wide variety of symptoms is attributed to toxicity resulting from mercury amalgam. This list includes but is not limited to:
Headache, fatigue, loss of concentration, irritability, depression, insomnia, and dizziness
Diverticulosis, stomach cramps, bloating, loss of appetite, and gastrointestinal disturbances
Muscle fatigue and tremors, sciatic and chest pains, leg cramps, joint pain, and tachycardia
Oral health problems, such as bad breath, blisters/sores, tender teeth, and bleeding gums
Multiple studies have reported on both the symptoms associated with mercury toxicity and the likelihood of treatment to mitigate the effects of mercury toxicity.
Our next article discusses how your systems react to the presence of mercury in the body and the types of health damage that may result from mercury toxicity.

Holistic Dentistry NJ - Effective Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal in NJ | Dr. Philip Memoli
When the element mercury accumulates to a high concentration in the body, it can lead to a variety of acute and chronic medical problems, including organ damage and compromise of major bodily systems. Dentists and toxicologists are divided over the extent of the danger posed by mercury amalgam fillings.
Dentists who focus on safe amalgam removal must receive specialized training in the practice; they also follow government guidelines for containment of mercury vapor during the procedure and disposal of mercury-containing materials afterward.
Mercury toxicity is a health problem that results from a variety of environmental exposures. In addition to its widespread use in dental amalgam, mercury gets into our surroundings from industrial processes and broken fluorescent tubes and even from natural phenomena, such as volcanic eruptions.
A safe, effective program for removal of mercury amalgam (safe mercury removal) is the first step toward reversing the effects of mercury toxicity in your body. The Center for Systemic Dentistry in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey, is committed to being the state’s leading dental practice that focuses on holistic, healing-focused dentistry.
Safe Amalgam Removal If you have been diagnosed with mercury toxicity or you have been thinking about having your mercury (amalgam) fillings removed, you’ll find everything you need here to help you make the best decision for your individual health.
