Welp, it's official, im on a Skylanders nostalgia trip, so Imma abunch of em in Hollow knight style! Next one on the list is one of my very first Skylanders from Spyro's Adventure, that being Whirlwind!

I decided to make her the child of a moth higher being of the sky and clouds and a mortal beetle they fell in love with, making Whirlwind a Demigod similar to Hornet! (The beetle specifically is why she has the horn if it wasn't obvious) I also took some inspiration from her awakened form in Ring of Heroes so she'd have a cool helmet.

I wonder if i should make this a little art series i do, kinda like @upsidedownsmore's Hollowframe series, (check it out if you haven't, it's great and one of my main inspirations for getting into drawing.) Would i call it "Hollowlanders"? That does sound kinda cool...

Do y'all like Crystals? Do you also like Beams? Well, if you do, you'll definitely like this next Hollowlander...

Behold! Hollowlanders Prism Break! I based him off the Golems found in Crystal peaks, he's probably abit smaller than them I'd imagine. I would've made his crystals purple like the ones in the peaks, but then it wouldn't be Prism Break, y'know? Oh, also my friend king helped with the hand crystals and the colors. (I got stuck on said hand crystals for like a week)

I should see about finding ways to implement the characters i draw for Hollowlanders into my worldbuilding for undergrowth... That'd be fun.

That and maybe drawing a portal of power for them to stand on so their not just a PNG on a blank background lmao. If anyone has an idea for what i could do for that, lemme know!

So i was going through abit of a nostalgia trip, and got the idea to draw a couple characters from one of my favorite childhood games, specifically Skylanders!

Behold! Blastermind as a....Soul sanctum bug! (What even are they supposed to be? Cicadas? Generic beetles? Whatever)

The idea was instead of Traptanium crystals, he would be using crystals from crystal peaks as a "conduit" for focusing soul.... Or something, idk, I haven't actually done that much thinking on how'd he work, i just thought the idea was cool lol.

It's ironic that i drew him first, i never even had him. Same goes for most of the other ones I've drawn, actually...... (I'll post em later once i do some touch ups!)

Feel free to gimme some ideas for how i could draw other Skylanders in Hollow knight style! It's surprisingly challenging at times, but that's the fun part! .....Usually.

I'm not the only person drawing Hollowlanders! One of my friends (who'll I'll just call Chomper for now since that's part of his username on discord 'n stuff) also drew someone!

....Specifically Wham-Shell! He's still good ol' reliable crab man with a mace, but now it's a....macecrab? (Y'know... cuz he's a crab...and lives in the ocean..)

Btw, Chomper doesn't got any socials rn, so make sure to leave some comments to let him know you like his art! He's one of the best artists i know, and helped get me into digital drawing!

Got another Hollowlander drawing somewhat done, so it's time to show it off! This time we've got a Sensei from Imaginators, that being King Pen! (Ironically the only Skylanders game i never played sadly)

I loosely based him off of Giant water bugs since... y'know, WATER. That and the fact they're cool looking, and have them big ol' claws for hunting prey.

Not sure exactly what kinda lore he'd have, but oh well, that's stuff to think about later.

So good news with the Hollowlanders project for those interested, I've got multiple drawings in the works (i think 5 as of now?) 2 in particular are very close to completion...

In other news, i am still taking requests for what Skylanders to draw next for the Hollowlanders project! I believe someone already requested that i draw Spitfire as one. Still uh, still cracking away at that one (how does one make a blue fire snake a bug? lol)

Also, if anyone would be interested... I'm more than happy to possibly do a collab on some of these Hollowlanders! (Definitely not just trying to find a way to make it easier on myself LMAO 🤣) But for real though, i think it'd be nice to work together with other people that like Skylanders and Hollow Knight. Even if you can't really draw, suggestions and ideas for what a character should be or whatever would still be greatly appreciated!

I saw your post about your Hollowlanders project - it's definitely a really cool combination of different video games.

I don't know too much about Skylanders since I never played the games, but I remember reading a guidebook on the characters at some point. In it it said that Spyro had some sort of dark magic form if I remember correctly? I'm not sure how to translate his design into more Hollow Knight-ly vibes, but maybe incorporating some void aspects for the dark magic form might work?

Also I think there was a dragon for each element type, so maybe a dragonfly might work for either the water or the flying dragon? Dragonflies are found near water and fly really well, so it could work as a base for either character.

No need to draw these if your focusing on other drawings - I just saw that you were looking for a few ideas so I thought it would be fun to share. I'm looking forward to seeing the next drawing for this series - you do a really good job at mimicking the HK drawing style.

Oooo, i think your onto something there! I believe your referring to Dark Spyro, he was a special variant that was black and silver, and even had some unique traits in some of the 3ds games that set him apart from normal spyro! A few other Skylanders like Spitfire, King Pen, ect also had dark variants, but i never really thought of including those since I didn't want to do reposes and stuff like that since i thought it was abit... redundant, y'know?

But your idea of using void and stuff sounds very interesting! I'll definitely have to consider using that for them. (Definitely gotta do it for Spyro and Dark spyro.)

As for the different dragon Skylanders, I've already got one of them done with the air dragon, Whirlwind. (specifically the original 8 from the first game) I was gonna make them all dragonflies, but i thought it'd be more interesting to make them all based off different flying bugs in general (plus whirlwind gave me more moth vibes since she looks less like a dragon since she's part unicorn or whatever. But I'll definitely see about making the water dragon be based off a dragonfly! (It'd be kinda wrong not to afterall lol)

Also thanks for the compliment! I'm glad people like my art, drawing stuff with the Hollow knight artstyle is my first time really getting into drawing things since i was really young lol.
